I have a 1987 Mercury Grand Marquis LS. Headlights won't turn on.

Replaced headlight switch{not the problem] If you pull back on dimmer switch the lights will lite but then shut off when it is released. Where is the relay for the headlights? Should I replace dimmer switch?

That is called the "flash to pass" system,, it is separate from the headlight main circuit, have you checked the headlight fuselinks for the headlight switch? They are attached to the starter solenoid where the positive battery cable connects.
