Idle issues

Asked by Feb 12, 2019 at 03:22 AM about the 2004 Ford Ranger

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When I start my ranger the rpm jump between 500
and 1500. After a minute or so it will level out at
750. Any ideas?

Most likely, it's the cold start injector combined with a vacuum leak that causes the idle air control valve to fluctuate the idle speed. This could be a failed sensor or an EGR malfunction.
