The 1994 Mercedes-Benz C-class replaced the Benz 190. The C220 was a mid-sized luxury car, at the lower end of the luxury lines. The engine was a 2.2-liter, 4-cylinder, with 148 ponies.
All cars came standard with automatic transmissions, an interior full of wood trim stretching from the dashboard to the rear doors. Also standard were a sunroof, dual airbags, and ABS.
Owners rave about the fuel efficiency of the C-class Benz as well as its heating and cooling systems. But, in true status-conscious fashion, most also admit to appreciating the looks and attention they get when driving the '94 C220.
Even in their first year of production, the '94 C-class Mercedes won eight important automotive awards in the U.S.

The 1994 Mercedes-Benz C280 brings traditional Benz styling, power, and performance to a less expensive line of luxury cars.
Safe and solid, the lines and styling were based on the more expensive S-class models, making even the 1994 C280, rather stylish and even somewhat sporty for a sedan. But for some, it was the safety cage construction, that would protect them in the event of an accident, that was the big selling point.
The '94 Mercedes-Benz C280 had a 2.8 liter, 6 cylinder engine that delivered 194 hp, dual overhead cams, and a gated shift level, making it easy, convenient, and flexible. The 280 also -- even from the beginning -- was considered luxurious, full of status, and had great safety reports.
However, as with most things, there are some drawbacks. Parts tend to be expensive and aren't all that easy to install and that Benz-qualified mechanics don't come too cheap.
Even in their first year of production, the '94 C-class Mercedes won eight important automotive awards in the U.S.
