2021 GMC Yukon Reviews Summary

With the redesigned 2021 GMC Yukon, several good things happen. First, GMC improves passenger space and cargo space by stretching the wheelbase and switching to an independent rear suspension design. Second, those same changes, coupled with a new adaptive air suspension option, enhance the full-size SUV’s ride and handling. Third, payload ratings rise by as much as 100 pounds. Fourth, the Yukon gets a significant technology upgrade. But at the same time, the new Yukon takes a couple of steps backward. Tow ratings can’t match the outgoing Yukon, and in some cases, fuel economy numbers worsen rather than improve. Still, all things considered, the new 2021 Yukon represents advancement.

2022 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Reviews Summary

The summer of 2022 has been a doozy. Gas prices went sky high and heat waves roasted Americans. If you’re rethinking the purchase of a three-row SUV and trying to find a fuel-efficient solution that emits greenhouse gas emissions only part of the time, the seven-passenger Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid might be a good solution. It doesn’t offer all-wheel drive (AWD) as other Pacificas do, but it has a plug-in hybrid powertrain supplying an EPA-rated 32 miles of electric range before the gasoline V6 engine fires up to deliver 30 mpg in combined driving.

2021 GMC Yukon

9/10

2022 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid

9/10
CarGurus experts rate the 2021 GMC Yukon at 9 out of 10 and the 2022 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid at 5 out of 10 for look and feel, highlighting a significant difference in aesthetic and tactile satisfaction between the two vehicles. The 2021 GMC Yukon, with its robust and refined design, appeals to those seeking both luxury and ruggedness. Priced from $50,700 when new, the Yukon offers various trims, including the new off-road-ready AT4 and the upscale Denali, which boasts a unique dashboard design, real wood trim, and a panoramic sunroof, presenting an upscale cabin environment. In contrast, the 2022 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, starting at $49,095 when new, faces challenges in shaking off the minivan stigma, despite its practicality. Its exterior and interior design, although functional, do not convey the same level of sophistication or appeal as the Yukon.

Performance

2021 GMC Yukon

6/10

2022 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid

8/10
Performance ratings from CarGurus place the 2021 GMC Yukon at 6 out of 10, whereas the 2022 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid earns an 8 out of 10. The Yukon offers a choice of powerful engines, including a 420-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 for the Denali trim, providing robust acceleration but with modest fuel efficiency. The Yukon also features advanced suspension and a capable 4WD system, enhancing its ride quality and off-road potential. Conversely, the Pacifica Hybrid shines with its efficient plug-in hybrid drivetrain, offering up to 32 miles of electric-only range and an overall fuel economy of 37.1 mpg, making it an excellent option for eco-conscious families.
Form and function

2021 GMC Yukon

8/10

2022 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid

9/10
The 2021 GMC Yukon's redesign brings a notable enhancement in both passenger comfort and functional space, attributable largely to the implementation of an independent rear suspension system. This structural innovation not only amplifies the SUV's passenger space but also significantly boosts its cargo capacity. The Yukon Denali, in particular, showcases an impressive cargo volume, offering 25.5 cubic feet of space behind the third row, which expands to 72.6 cubic feet with the third row folded down. For those needing even more space, the Yukon Denali XL variant provides a cavernous 144.7 cubic feet of maximum cargo room, once both the second and third rows are folded. These figures not only cater to large families but also to those who prioritize substantial luggage capacity for their adventures or transportation needs. On the other side, the 2022 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid champions practicality and efficiency in the minivan segment. While it may not boast the rugged aesthetics of the Yukon, it offers an unparalleled blend of comfortable seating and generous cargo capacity, making it an ideal choice for efficient family haulers. Behind its third-row seat, the Pacifica Hybrid provides a practical 32.3 cubic feet of luggage space, which expands to a substantial 87.5 cubic feet with the third row stowed away. For maximum cargo-carrying capabilities, removing the second-row seats opens up a total of 140.5 cubic feet of space, outmatching many full-size SUVs and demonstrating the Pacifica Hybrid's exceptional versatility and utility. Both the Yukon and Pacifica Hybrid excel in blending form with function, yet they cater to distinctly different priorities and lifestyles.
Technology

2021 GMC Yukon

9/10

2022 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid

8/10
Technology scores from CarGurus are 9 out of 10 for the 2021 GMC Yukon and 8 out of 10 for the 2022 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. The Yukon impresses with its 10.2-inch touchscreen, comprehensive connectivity features, and premium audio options. However, its rear-seat entertainment system's performance can be inconsistent. The Pacifica Hybrid's Uconnect 5 system offers an intuitive interface, but its voice recognition can be unreliable. Both vehicles offer modern infotainment solutions, but the Yukon's slightly higher rating reflects its edge in integrating advanced technology with user-friendly features.
Safety

2021 GMC Yukon

9/10

2022 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid

8/10
For safety, the 2021 GMC Yukon and the 2022 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid are closely rated at 9 out of 10 and 8 out of 10, respectively. The Yukon comes equipped with a suite of advanced driving assistance systems and receives praise for its smooth operation of adaptive cruise control and lane assistance technologies.
