Used Ford Mustang for Sale nearLoretto, MN

How much does the Ford Mustang cost in today's market?

Used Ford Mustang prices span a wide range depending on model year. Here's what the market looks like right now:

The Ford Mustang's current nationwide average price is $27,887, and its lowest point over the past year was $25,618. Recently, prices have come down for the 2024 and 2025 models, making now a good time to shop recent model years.

Is the Ford Mustang a good car?

Yes — the Ford Mustang is a strong choice if you want a used sports car with broad appeal and a long track record of enthusiast-friendly performance. The all-generations owner rating is 4.6/5 across every model year in the data.

Owners consistently praise the Mustang for its powerful performance, fun driving experience, and iconic styling. Across the years, the car also earns repeat praise for its engine variety, strong acceleration, and the emotional appeal of its V8 sound.

Expert reviews rate the 2018 and 2021 models among the highest across all years.

The main tradeoffs in recent expert-reviewed years center on rear-seat space, cargo room, and cabin noise, along with some build-quality and transmission concerns in certain model years.

31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

Are Ford Mustang models reliable?

Owners consistently rate the Mustang highly for performance, styling, and driving enjoyment, and expert commentary repeatedly highlights its strong character and broad range of powertrain choices. Across the model years, it also earns praise for delivering an engaging, enthusiast-focused experience that keeps it appealing as a used buy.

• Owners rate the Ford Mustang between 4.4 and 5 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.

For long-term ownership, you should pay close attention to model-year history and maintenance records, especially on older examples where reported issues appear more often.

What should I look for when buying a used Ford Mustang?

Across all model years, at 70.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

Older model years carry meaningfully higher accident rates, so always verify the vehicle history report on pre-2022 models.

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic high beams
• Infotainment: a large 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen with the Sync 4 infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa integration
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA estimates the four-cylinder EcoBoost will return 22 mpg city, 33 mpg highway, and 26 mpg in combined driving. The V8-powered GT is rated at 15/24 mpg city/highway and 18 mpg combined with the automatic transmission.

Which Ford Mustang trim should I buy?

The 2024 Ford Mustang offers these trims:

• EcoBoost: the entry choice with the 2.3-liter turbo four-cylinder, 10-speed automatic, and the broadest access point to the lineup; best if you want the lowest starting point and everyday performance.
• GT: adds the 5.0-liter V8, six-speed manual, and a more serious muscle-car character; this is the best-value trim for shoppers who want the classic Mustang experience.
• Dark Horse: the top performance model with 500 hp and additional performance enhancements for buyers who want the most focused version in the range.

What Ford Mustang do most buyers choose?

The Ford Mustang years with the most listings are 2025, 2024, and 2023.

These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you more listings to compare and a strong mix of pricing and deal availability. That usually makes it easier to find the right combination of condition, equipment, and budget.

What is the Ford Mustang's resale value?

Most model years in the table are down year over year, which points to softer pricing for used buyers across much of the lineup. A few years are flat or rising, so the market is not moving in one direction across every model year. The biggest drops are concentrated in the newer and mid-cycle years, while some older examples are showing modest gains.

The 2018 and 2024 model years are holding steady, with prices close to flat year-over-year.

The 2023, 2022, and 2014 model years have held their value best, with prices flat to rising year-over-year.

• 2018: 8/10
• 2016: 9/10

For the safest used buy, the 2015, 2016 and 2021 models all post the highest confirmed score of 9/10.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: The 2024 Mustang's entry-level engine is the EcoBoost 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that produces 315 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. The GT's Coyote 5.0-liter V8 is good for 480 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque.
• Tech: All 2024 Mustangs come with a large 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen and a digital instrument cluster, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard along with Amazon Alexa integration.
