CarGurus Analysis: 2024 Toyota Sienna
overall

Summary
With 1,988 currently listed for sale and an average price of $45,200, 33.7% of 2024 Toyota Siennas for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2024 Toyota Sienna 4 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.5 / 10.
91.3% of 2024 Sienna models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2024 Toyota Sienna stands out as a family minivan that has kept pace with modern expectations while still leaning into practicality. It offers three rows of seating and power sliding doors, and it comes standard as a fuel-sipping hybrid model. Toyota also offers optional all-wheel drive, and the Sienna’s dramatic exterior styling may appeal to shoppers who want something a little more distinctive than the usual minivan shape.
Its biggest strengths are efficiency, comfort, and everyday usefulness. The standard hybrid engine delivers impressive fuel economy, and the Sienna comes standard with plenty of safety features. It is also described as comfy, with a spacious third row that should help make it a strong choice for families. The tradeoffs are worth noting, though: performance is fairly pedestrian, the technology is looking a bit outdated, and the second-row seats cannot be removed.

The hybrid system is excellent, it is rated for 36 mpg, however purchasing the new Sienna from Apex, North Carolina and driving it back to NY, it averaged 45 mpg for more than 500 miles, of course under mild driving.

The vehicle has some nice features but the technology is not keeping up with other automakers. According to some reviews, the line has some issues that the automaker does not take seriously and passes them off as (normal). Specifically the problem with starting the vehicle and braking quirks.

Is the 2024 Toyota Sienna a good car?
Generally — the 2024 Toyota Sienna earns a 4/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 9/10.
The Sienna’s appeal is rooted in practicality: it offers three rows of seating, power sliding doors, and a standard hybrid setup that prioritizes efficiency. It also comes with plenty of safety features and a cabin that’s described as comfortable and family-friendly.
The trade-offs are clear, though. Performance is fairly pedestrian, and the technology is dated compared with newer systems.
With 34.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive price if you shop carefully.
Is the 2024 Toyota Sienna reliable?
Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The Sienna’s reliability case is helped by its straightforward hybrid setup and its emphasis on everyday usefulness rather than complexity. The expert evaluation also points to strong efficiency and a practical ownership experience, which are both good signs for a family vehicle you plan to keep for a while.
Toyota’s warranty coverage includes two years or 25,000 miles of scheduled maintenance, whichever comes first, which adds a useful ownership perk early on.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the vehicle has been maintained well and used gently.
What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Toyota Sienna?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re comparing higher-mileage examples or trims with more equipment. Focus on overall condition, cabin wear, and whether the features you care about are working as expected.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Sienna comes in LE, XLE, XSE, Woodland Edition, Limited and Platinum trim levels. The base trim starts with cloth seats and a simpler cabin, while upper trims add features like Bi-LED projector headlamps, heated and cooled leather-trimmed front seats, and a built-in vacuum cleaner.
- Powertrain: Every Sienna uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid setup with two electric motors and a total output of 245 horsepower. Front-wheel-drive models are the efficiency benchmark, while AWD versions add a rear electric motor and slightly reduce fuel economy.
- Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense is standard and includes lane departure alert, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, road sign recognition, full-speed adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Lane-keeping assist is standard too, though it may not feel perfectly centered in use.
- Infotainment: You get a nine-inch touchscreen with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a standard Wi-Fi hotspot and SiriusXM satellite radio. The system is functional, but it’s clearly behind newer setups.
- Fuel efficiency: The hybrid powertrain is rated at 36 mpg in front-wheel-drive form, with AWD models returning slightly less.
Which 2024 Toyota Sienna trim should I buy?
The 2024 Toyota Sienna is offered in 6 trim levels: LE, XLE, XSE, Woodland Edition, Limited and Platinum.
Here's the short version:
- LE: This is the value-focused starting point, and it makes the Sienna’s core strengths accessible without pushing the price up. If you want the most affordable path into the hybrid minivan, this is the trim to start with.
- XLE: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more polished feel without jumping too far up the price ladder. It’s a smart middle ground if you want more comfort and convenience than the LE.
- XSE: This is the sportier-looking choice, with a black metallic mesh grille, black heated side mirrors, and 20-inch dark wheels. It suits you if style matters and you want a more distinctive family hauler.
- Woodland Edition: This trim leans toward light off-road readiness with roof rails, crossbars, a tow hitch, and a half-inch of extra ground clearance. It’s the pick if you want a more adventurous look and a bit more utility.
- Limited: This is the upscale comfort choice, aimed at shoppers who want more premium features and a more refined cabin experience.
- Platinum: This is the top-end trim for buyers who want the most equipment and are willing to pay for it.
Toyota Safety Sense is standard across the lineup, so you don’t need to move up a trim just to get the core driver-assistance suite.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Toyota Sienna?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop but still want to move quickly on strong listings.
- Deal availability: 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,066 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.84% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 91.3% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $39,947, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2024 Toyota Sienna's resale value?
The current average of $45,126 sits slightly below last year's $46,443.
That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy at a more favorable point. For a future seller, the current trend means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle has been maintained.
Because the Sienna has strong efficiency and broad family appeal, well-kept examples should remain attractive to used buyers. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2024 Toyota Sienna safe?
The 2024 Toyota Sienna earns four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and five-star ratings in side crash protection from NHTSA. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety rates it Good in crashworthiness and seat belt and child restraint systems, though front crash prevention is rated Average.
It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Toyota Safety Sense is standard across the board and includes lane departure alert, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, road sign recognition, full-speed adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
The main caveat is that lane-keeping assist can feel a bit side-to-side rather than perfectly centered, and the front crash prevention result is not as strong as the rest of the safety picture.
Should I buy a 2024 Toyota Sienna or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.84% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- It combines a standard hybrid powertrain with three rows of seating and plenty of safety features.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $42,086, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $45,126 average.
- It emphasizes hybrid efficiency, family practicality, and standard advanced safety features.
Consider the 2025 if:
- At $47,562, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $45,126 average.
- It adds available AWD, light off-road capability in Woodland Edition, and easier everyday versatility.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of current pricing, strong inventory, and proven family usefulness, the 2024 is the primary pick. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2023 is the better value play, while the 2025 makes sense if you want to spend more for the newer-year advantages.
