Is the 2024 Toyota Sienna a good car?

Generally — the 2024 Toyota Sienna earns a 4/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 9/10.

The Sienna fits you well if you want a family hauler with three rows, power sliding doors, and standard safety features. It is also described as efficient and practical, with a strong value proposition for shoppers who prioritize everyday usefulness over excitement.

The trade-offs are that performance is fairly pedestrian and the technology is dated. It also has a second-row seating limitation that can matter if you want maximum flexibility.

With 39.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitively priced example.

Is the 2024 Toyota Sienna reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Sienna’s hybrid setup and practical minivan design point to a vehicle built around efficiency and everyday family use. The expert review also describes it as a strong value, which matters if you want a used vehicle that balances running costs with utility.

Its powertrain is presented as fuel-sipping and well suited to routine driving, and Toyota includes two years or 25,000 miles of scheduled maintenance. That helps reduce early ownership friction.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the driving experience and tech may feel dated sooner than the rest of the vehicle.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Toyota Sienna?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a thorough inspection, especially if you are comparing multiple trims or higher-mileage examples. Focus on condition details that affect family use, like seat wear, cabin functionality, and how well the tech and driver-assistance features operate.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sienna is offered in LE, XLE, XSE, Woodland Edition, Limited and Platinum trim levels. Base trims come with cloth seats, three-zone climate control and room for eight, while upper trims add features like Bi-LED projector headlamps, leather-trimmed heated and cooled front seats, and a built-in vacuum cleaner.
• Powertrain: Every Sienna uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid setup with two electric motors, and AWD versions add a rear motor. Output is 245 horsepower, and the review notes that acceleration is smooth but sluggish, with a CVT that can get loud.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense is standard and includes lane departure alert, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, road sign recognition, full-speed adaptive cruise control and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are also standard.
• Infotainment: You get a nine-inch touchscreen with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a standard Wi-Fi hotspot and SiriusXM satellite radio. The system is older, and the backup camera quality is a weak point.
• Fuel efficiency: The hybrid powertrain returns 36 mpg across the board in front-wheel-drive models, with AWD models rated slightly lower.

Which 2024 Toyota Sienna trim should I buy?

The 2024 Toyota Sienna is offered in 6 trim levels: LE, XLE, XSE, Woodland Edition, Limited and Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the value-focused starting point, and it gives you the Sienna’s core strengths without pushing the price up. It makes the most sense if you want the hybrid efficiency, standard safety features and family-friendly basics at the lowest entry cost.
• XLE: This is the trim to consider if you want a more polished daily experience without jumping too far up the price ladder. It should appeal to you if you want a better balance of comfort and equipment than the LE.
• XSE: This is the sporty-looking choice, with a black metallic mesh grille, black heated side mirrors and 20-inch dark wheels. It is a good fit if you want the most distinctive style and are willing to pay for it.
• Woodland Edition: This is the most outdoorsy version, with roof rails, crossbars, a tow hitch and a bit more ground clearance. It suits you best if you want the Sienna’s practicality with a slightly more rugged edge.
• Limited: This is the upscale comfort pick if you want more premium features and a more refined cabin experience. It is the trim to target if you care about convenience and amenities more than price.
• Platinum: This is the top-end choice for shoppers who want the most equipment and are willing to pay for it. It makes sense if you want the most fully featured Sienna available.

Toyota Safety Sense is standard across the lineup, so you do not need to move up a trim just to get the core driver-assistance suite.

What is the 2024 Toyota Sienna's resale value?

The current average of $43,854 sits slightly below last year's $47,116.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more affordably now. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle has been maintained.

Because the Sienna is still a practical hybrid minivan with strong efficiency and family appeal, demand should remain steady among shoppers who want utility and lower fuel costs. A clean, well-kept example should be easier to move than one with visible wear or neglected maintenance.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Toyota Sienna safe?

The 2024 Toyota Sienna has been rated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) with four-star ratings for frontal crash and rollover protection and five-star ratings for side crash protection.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense is standard across the board and includes lane departure alert, automatic emergency braking that can detect a pedestrian or cyclist, road sign recognition, full-speed adaptive cruise control and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are also standard.

The IIHS gives the Sienna the top score of “Good” in crashworthiness and seat belt and child restraint systems, though front crash prevention is rated “Average.” That means the Sienna is strong overall, but you should still pay attention to how its driver-assistance systems feel in real-world use.

Should I buy a 2024 Toyota Sienna or consider a different year?

• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.92% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It combines strong efficiency with standard safety features and a practical three-row layout.

Consider the 2023 if:

• It emphasizes hybrid efficiency and family practicality.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $45,230, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $43,854 average.
