Is the 2023 Subaru Legacy a good car?

Yes — the 4.7/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. The 2023 Legacy stands out because it combines standard all-wheel drive with a mid-cycle refresh that updated the front end and added safety system improvements. It also benefits from a quieter, more spacious cabin, a stiffer chassis, and better ride quality, which makes it appealing if you want a practical midsize sedan with a more modern feel. The model’s standard safety suite and available driver-assist features add to its everyday usefulness, while the lineup’s turbo engine option gives some trims extra appeal. 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2023 Subaru Legacy reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The 2023 Legacy’s standard all-wheel drive, safety-focused setup, and refined ride quality all support its reputation as a dependable everyday sedan. Its final-generation status also means you’re looking at the most developed version of this design, with the benefit of a mature platform and updated safety tech. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific car you choose has been well maintained and hasn’t picked up hidden damage or wear.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Subaru Legacy?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should start with a history report to confirm the car’s accident and title background, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if anything in the listing looks inconsistent. Focus on overall condition, including signs of wear in the cabin, tire condition, and how the car drives, since those details can tell you more than the photos alone. If you’re comparing multiple listings, put the cleanest example with the best maintenance history near the top of your list.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Subaru Legacy?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find value.

• Deal availability: 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 887 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.44% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 85.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,853, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Subaru Legacy's resale value?

The current average of $21,853 sits slightly below last year's $23,868.

That price movement suggests the Legacy has softened enough to create a better entry point for you as a buyer, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy well now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later, especially if you choose a clean, well-kept example. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 Subaru Legacy or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.44% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2023 is the right pick if you want the refreshed look, standard all-wheel drive, and a well-developed version of the Legacy formula. If your priority is stretching your budget further, a nearby year may still make sense, but the 2023 gives you a strong mix of value, safety, and inventory depth.
