Summary
With 87 currently listed for sale near Dallas, TX and an average price of $38,667, 74.7% of 2023 Lexus ES models for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.

Why it stands out
The 2023 Lexus ES stands out as a luxury sedan that prioritizes comfort, quietness, and an easygoing driving experience over flash or aggression. It is based on the same platform as the Toyota Avalon and Camry from this era, and the redesign brought increased structural rigidity, a wider stance, and an overall increase in length of almost three inches. Lexus also moved the seating position lower and further back, which helped create additional rear-seat legroom. The styling is more expressive than before, with a large spindle grille, sharp body creases, and a coupe-like roofline.
For 2023, Lexus introduced the F Sport Design, which dropped the adaptive dampers and sportier suspension tune. The ES 350 came with a 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6 producing 302 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque, while the ES 300h hybrid paired a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor and a CVT for a combined 215 hp. Standard equipment on the base ES included synthetic leather upholstery, heated power front seats, LED headlights, a power moonroof, and a full suite of safety features such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, traffic-sign recognition, and high-beam assist. Available options included a Mark Levinson stereo, a head-up display, a panoramic glass roof, surround-view cameras, a power rear sunshade, triple-beam LED headlights, a digital key, and a wide range of driver-assistance features.
That mix of comfort, equipment, and safety helps explain the ES’s appeal, especially for buyers who want a refined sedan with strong value. At the same time, the ES remains tuned primarily for smoothness rather than aggressive acceleration, and it is not especially inspiring to drive or look at.

Downsized from BMW 540i for more comforts but still decent pop/handling. ALL main cabin features of BMW transferred to Lexus ES though some learning on new systems will be required. Great the control pad on the console has been replaced in 2023. Saved roughly $20K upfront with Lexus plus more ongoing with regular, not premium, fuel. ES hybrid would have saved even more ongoing but I was not ready to take that drastic of a performance drop yet.

Yes — the 2023 Lexus ES earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. It stands out as a luxury sedan that prioritizes comfort, quietness, and an easygoing driving experience over flash or aggression, and it adds a wider stance, more structural rigidity, and extra rear-seat legroom. That makes it a strong fit if you want a refined daily driver with a premium feel and a calm personality. With 39.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2023 Lexus ES reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The 2023 Lexus ES is described as a comfort-first luxury sedan with a quiet cabin and a refined, easygoing character. Its standard safety equipment and emphasis on smoothness support the impression of a well-rounded ownership experience. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about drama and more about making sure the car has been maintained well and still feels tight, quiet, and composed.
What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Lexus ES?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the history report carefully so you can confirm the car’s accident status and ownership background. Prioritize a thorough inspection of the cabin, suspension feel, and overall condition, since this model is built around comfort and quietness. Focus on signs that the car still delivers the refined, low-stress driving experience you expect from a luxury sedan.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Lexus ES?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 39.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,021 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices are up 3.32% year-over-year.
- Clean inventory: 86.7% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $36,700, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2023 Lexus ES's resale value?
The current average of $39,237 sits slightly above last year's $37,977.
That upward move suggests the market is still willing to pay for this model year’s mix of comfort, equipment, and premium branding. For a future seller, that kind of pricing momentum can help support stronger trade-in or private-party interest if the car is kept in good condition. The relatively tight spread between the year-round low and high also suggests buyers are paying attention to well-priced examples.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2023 Lexus ES or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2023 if:
- 39.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices are up 3.32% year-over-year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $35,362, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $39,237 average.
- It offers comfort and refinement without a giant price tag.
The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market picture and are comfortable paying more for a newer-year example, the 2023 is the better starting point. If your priority is saving money up front, the 2022 is the more budget-friendly path and still delivers the ES’s core comfort-first appeal.
