Used 2023 BMW 7 Series for Sale nearWashington, DC

How much does the 2023 BMW 7 Series cost?

Prices have softened 14.55% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 739 listings available, which suggests you have a workable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 BMW 7 Series a good car?

It’s a mixed but appealing choice if you value comfort and driving enjoyment more than easygoing styling or simple tech. The user rating is 1/5, and our experts rate it 6.67/10 overall.

The model scores 8/10 across Performance and Safety.

The 7 Series stands out for its comfortable cabin, great ride quality, and great handling, which gives it broader appeal than many large luxury sedans that lean too far toward comfort alone. At the same time, its styling has limited appeal and its technology interface can be frustrating, so it fits you best if you want a flagship sedan that feels refined on the road and still rewards the driver.

Trade-offs include the unintuitive technology and the potentially polarizing design. Even so, the market shows 37.9% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 BMW 7 Series reliable?

The 2023 BMW 7 Series is presented as a polished, well-rounded flagship with a strong comfort-and-performance balance, but its long-term appeal depends on how much you’re willing to live with its complex systems. Our experts highlight smooth, confident operation from the available driver-assistance setup, and the performance notes point to a powertrain lineup that delivers strong output with composed behavior.

The performance content also emphasizes that the 740i’s mild-hybrid six-cylinder and the 760i xDrive’s twin-turbo V8 are both tuned for smooth, confident acceleration. On the cost side, the 740i is estimated to return 31 mpg in combined city and highway driving, and the 760i is estimated to return 26 mpg. That efficiency spread matters if you plan to keep the car for a while.

For used buyers, the main ownership risk is that the car’s sophistication can make repairs and upkeep more demanding over time than a simpler luxury sedan.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 BMW 7 Series?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on electronics, driver-assistance operation, and any signs that the cabin tech has been heavily used or poorly maintained. Pay close attention to trim condition and feature operation, since this model’s appeal depends heavily on equipment and interface quality.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The standard M Sport theme has chrome grille accents, while the M Sport Professional theme blacks out the chrome for a more aggressive look. The interior can also vary meaningfully, with available light gray cashmere wool-blend upholstery and an optional Rear Executive Lounge Seating package that adds a reclining passenger-side seat and a theater screen.
• Powertrain: The base 740i uses a 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder with a 48-volt mild hybrid system, while the 760i xDrive upgrades to a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8. The 740i is estimated at 31 mpg combined, and the 760i is estimated at 26 mpg combined.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, a blind-spot monitor, lane-keep assist, a traffic-sign reader, adaptive headlights, parking sensors, and safe exit warnings. The optional Driving Assistance Professional package adds a hands-free automated driving system for highways.
• Infotainment: The 7 Series uses iDrive 8, which can be controlled by touchscreen, central dial, or voice commands. The system is packed with features, but deeper menus can be frustrating, and the standard 18-speaker Bowers & Wilkins Surround Sound System is included.
• Fuel efficiency: The 740i is estimated to return 31 mpg in combined city and highway driving, while the 760i is estimated to return 26 mpg.

Which 2023 BMW 7 Series trim should I buy?

The 2023 BMW 7 Series is offered in 2 trim levels: 740i, 760i xDrive.

Here's the short version:

• 740i: This is the best-value choice if you want the core 7 Series experience without stepping up to the V8. It gives you the six-cylinder mild-hybrid powertrain, the flagship cabin, and the same broad comfort-and-luxury mission at the lower starting point.
• 760i xDrive: Choose this if you want the strongest performance in the lineup and don’t mind paying more for it. The V8 and all-wheel drive make it the more powerful, more expensive option, but the content suggests the 740i is the smarter buy for most shoppers.

The standard safety package includes frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, a blind-spot monitor, lane-keep assist, a traffic-sign reader, adaptive headlights, parking sensors, and safe exit warnings. The optional Driving Assistance Professional package adds the hands-free highway system.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 BMW 7 Series?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find meaningful value.

• Deal availability: 37.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 739 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.55% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $60,949, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 BMW 7 Series's resale value?

The current average of $60,949 sits slightly below last year's $71,323.

That drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more confidently now. For a future seller, it also means resale value may remain sensitive to condition, mileage, and equipment because the model is already trading below its prior-year level.

If you keep the car in excellent condition and choose a desirable configuration, you may preserve value better than average. But if you buy at the wrong price, there may be less room for appreciation later.

Is the 2023 BMW 7 Series safe?

The 2023 BMW 7 Series has not been crash tested by either NHTSA or IIHS yet.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, a blind-spot monitor, lane-keep assist, a traffic-sign reader, adaptive headlights, parking sensors, and safe exit warnings. The optional Driving Assistance Professional package adds a hands-free automated driving system for highways, and our experts describe it as one of the better semi-automated driving systems available.

A key caveat is that some of the most advanced driver-assistance capability is tied to the optional package rather than standard equipment.

Should I buy a 2023 BMW 7 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 37.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.55% compared with last year.
• It delivers a strong blend of comfort, luxury, and performance, even if the styling and tech are divisive.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $67,282, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $60,949 average.
• It adds the plug-in hybrid 750e and a lightly updated infotainment system.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2023 is the smarter starting point because it already offers the flagship comfort-and-performance mix at a lower average price. If you’re willing to pay more for the newer-year changes and the plug-in hybrid option, the 2024 is the alternative to consider.
