Is the 2023 Audi Q5 a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Audi Q5 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 7/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Safety.

The main trade-off is sluggish initial acceleration, so you may notice slower response when you want quick passing or a sharper launch. Even so, the Q5 fits well if you want a small luxury SUV that feels calm, refined, and well equipped.

Drivers describe it as luxurious, smooth, and comfortable, with advanced technology that helps it feel modern and easy to live with. The expert evaluation also points to sturdy build quality and a calm, quiet cabin, which supports the impression of a vehicle you can count on day to day.

The Q5’s standard all-wheel drive and solid construction add to its dependability, and the cabin materials are described as durable enough to hold up well over time. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that premium-fuel and premium-brand upkeep can make running costs higher than you might expect.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Audi Q5?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and verify that the specific car you’re considering has a clean maintenance record. A pre-purchase inspection is especially important if you want to confirm that the transmission, electronics, and interior condition all match the seller’s description. Focus on wear items, cabin condition, and whether the technology and driver-assistance features work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The entry trim includes leather seating, heated front seats, a 10-inch touchscreen, and standard all-wheel drive, while higher trims add a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, a Bang & Olufsen audio system, a customizable digital instrument panel, and more advanced driver-assistance features.
• Powertrain: You can choose from a 201-horsepower 40 TFSI, a 261-horsepower 45 TFSI, or a 362-horsepower plug-in hybrid 55 TFSI with an estimated 23 miles of electric-only range; all versions use a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and standard Quattro all-wheel drive.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and front and rear parking sensors; Premium Plus adds lane-keep assist, a surround-view camera system, and traffic jam assist, while Prestige adds matrix-design LED headlights, a head-up display, a semi-automated parking system, and a traffic sign reader.
• Infotainment: Every Q5 gets a 10.1-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and remote app functions; higher trims add a customizable digital instrument panel.
• Fuel efficiency: The 40 TFSI is rated at 23 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined, while the 45 TFSI is rated at 22 mpg city and 25 mpg combined; the plug-in hybrid 55 TFSI is estimated at 23 miles of electric range and 26 mpg combined once the battery is depleted.

Which 2023 Audi Q5 trim should I buy?

Here's the short version:

• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 Q5 stands out as an attractive small luxury SUV with standard all-wheel drive, a quiet cabin, and a good amount of technology, but its sluggish initial acceleration remains its biggest drawback.

The bottom line: If you want a refined, well-equipped luxury SUV and you can live with slower initial response, the 2023 Q5 is a strong used buy. If you’re especially price-sensitive, shop aggressively for a listing near the low end of the range and prioritize the Premium Plus trim for the best mix of features and value.
