How much does the 2022 Toyota RAV4 cost?

Prices have softened 2.31% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 5,128 listings available, which suggests you should have a healthy set of options to compare.

Is the 2022 Toyota RAV4 a good car?

Generally — the 2022 Toyota RAV4 earns 4.4/5 from owners and 8.3/10 from expert testing. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Safety.

Owners repeatedly praise its practicality, comfort, and performance, especially in different weather conditions. They also highlight the spacious interior and advanced technology features, along with the sound system. On the other hand, some owners mention a basic-feeling cabin and a lack of leather seating options.

That lines up with the overview: you get a stylish, roomy, and flexible compact SUV that leans toward usefulness and polish rather than excitement. The trade-off is that value for money is not especially strong, and the stereo is a weak point.

With 37.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive example.

Is the 2022 Toyota RAV4 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to reliability, dependability, and trouble-free everyday use, with many shoppers describing it as a vehicle they can count on over the long term. Expert testing also emphasizes long-term dependability and durability, which supports the idea that this is a sensible used buy if you want something built for years of service.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the model’s core durability and more about finding one that has been maintained well and not worn hard.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Toyota RAV4?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the vehicle has higher mileage or incomplete service records. Focus on overall condition, interior wear, and whether the equipment level matches what you expect for the price. A clean history is helpful, but it should not replace a close look at the actual vehicle.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trim gets a 7-inch touchscreen, six-speaker audio, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, and standard safety tech, while XLE models and above upgrade to a 9-inch touchscreen. Higher trims add more equipment, but the base setup is the most stripped-down.
• Powertrain: The gasoline model uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 203 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is available on all trim levels.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard and includes pre-collision system with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure alert with steering assist, automatic high beams, lane-tracing assist, and road sign assist. Higher grades add blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert and rear cross-traffic braking.
• Infotainment: Base models get a 7-inch touchscreen, while XLE and above move to a 9-inch screen. Wireless smartphone integration is not listed, and the system relies on standard Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.
• Fuel efficiency: FWD models return 27-28 mpg city and 35 mpg highway, while AWD models are rated at 25-27 mpg city and 32-34 mpg highway.

Which 2022 Toyota RAV4 trim should I buy?

The 2022 Toyota RAV4 is offered in 6 trim levels: LE, XLE, XLE Premium, Limited, Adventure, and TRD Off-Road.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core RAV4 formula at the lowest price. It makes sense if you want the standard safety suite, smartphone integration, and the most affordable way into the lineup.
• XLE: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a 9-inch touchscreen while staying well below the upper trims. If you want a more polished daily driver without stretching too far, this is the one to focus on.
• XLE Premium: This trim is the step-up choice if you want more comfort and a more upscale feel than XLE. It suits you if you want a nicer cabin without jumping all the way to the top end.
• Limited: This is the most feature-rich mainstream trim and is the right pick if you want the most comfort and convenience equipment in the gas lineup. It is the trim to consider if you plan to keep the vehicle for a while and want fewer compromises.
• Adventure: This trim is AWD-only and is aimed at buyers who want a more rugged personality. It stands apart from the mainstream trims with its own character and is a good fit if you want a tougher-looking RAV4.
• TRD Off-Road: This is the most specialized gas trim and is the one to choose if you want the most off-road-focused version in the lineup. It is the trim for you if that character matters more than everyday value.

Higher grades get standard blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert and rear cross-traffic braking, so safety equipment improves as you move up the range.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Toyota RAV4?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 37.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,128 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.31% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 80.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,206, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Toyota RAV4's resale value?

The current average of $27,092 sits slightly below last year's $27,732.

That softer pricing can help you buy more efficiently today, but it also suggests resale values have eased a bit compared with the prior year. If you plan to sell later, the current trend points to a market that is still healthy but not especially hot, so condition and mileage will matter a lot.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Toyota RAV4 safe?

The 2022 Toyota RAV4 earns a Top Safety Pick rating from the IIHS and five-star ratings from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard and includes pre-collision system with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure alert with steering assist, automatic high beams, lane-tracing assist, and road sign assist. Higher grades add blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert and rear cross-traffic braking, while front and rear parking assist with automatic braking is available on upper grades.

Should I buy a 2022 Toyota RAV4 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 37.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.31% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It combines mature styling, a roomy cabin, and standard advanced safety features.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $24,593, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $27,092 average.
• It adds the RAV4 Prime and broad trim choice.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $29,699, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $27,092 average.
• It updates the infotainment system for a more current cabin feel.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2022 if you want a well-rounded RAV4 with strong safety and broad market availability. If price is your top priority, the 2021 is the better value play; if you want a newer-feeling interior, the 2023 is worth the extra money.
