Is the 2022 Porsche 911 a good car?

Owners consistently praise its exceptional performance, handling, stylish design, high-quality interior materials, and strong everyday usability. The trade-offs are limited cargo space and a value proposition that can feel steep relative to what you get.

That mix fits the 2022 911 well if you want a luxury sports car that still works as a daily driver. It also helps explain why it remains a standout choice for buyers who care about both excitement and refinement.

Drivers describe it as dependable, trouble-free, and a car they can count on for both spirited driving and everyday use. The expert review also emphasizes that its performance has been refined over time in a way that preserves usability, which supports the sense that it is built for long-term ownership rather than short-lived thrills.

The 911’s approachable performance and mature engineering should help reduce ownership anxiety, but used buyers should still pay close attention to maintenance history and condition because this is a high-performance sports car.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Porsche 911?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially because sports cars can hide expensive wear behind polished presentation. Focus on signs of hard use, uneven tire wear, brake condition, and whether the car’s equipment matches the trim and options you expect.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Carrera gives you standard driver-assistance features and the core 911 experience, while the optional Premium package adds adaptive headlights, a surround-view camera system, and blind-spot monitoring. If you want more convenience and visibility tech, make sure those features are present before you buy.
• Powertrain: The base Carrera uses a 3.0-liter turbocharged boxer-six with 379 horsepower, and the lineup also includes higher-output versions such as the Carrera S and GTS. The eight-speed dual-clutch transmission improves acceleration and efficiency, while the manual is the choice if you want more engagement.
• Safety package: Forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking and lane-keep assist are standard on the base Carrera. The optional Premium package adds adaptive headlights, a surround-view camera system, and blind-spot monitoring, while night vision and an integrated dashcam are also available.
• Infotainment: The touchscreen sits lower than in many cars, Apple CarPlay is wireless, Android Auto still requires a USB cable, and the base audio system may leave you wanting more. The optional Bose system is the upgrade to look for if sound quality matters to you.
• Fuel efficiency: The PDK transmission improves fuel efficiency, and the performance-focused setup is tuned to balance speed with everyday drivability.

Which 2022 Porsche 911 trim should I buy?

The 2022 Porsche 911 is offered in 10 trim levels: Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera S, Carrera 4S, Carrera GTS, Carrera 4 GTS, Turbo, Turbo S, GT3, GT3 Touring.

Here's the short version:

• Carrera: This is the best-value choice if you want the core 911 experience without paying for extra power you may not fully use. It gives you the iconic shape, strong performance, and the standard safety features that matter most.
• Carrera 4: Choose this if you want the added traction of all-wheel drive and are willing to pay more for it. It makes sense if you value confidence over outright simplicity.
• Carrera S: This is the trim to target if you want the sweet spot between everyday usability and stronger performance. It adds meaningful power without pushing you into the more expensive upper tiers.
• Carrera 4S: Pick this if you want the Carrera S formula with all-wheel drive. It suits you if you want extra grip and are comfortable paying for it.
• Carrera GTS: This is for buyers who want a more serious performance edge and are willing to spend more for it. It sits in the middle of the lineup but leans harder into enthusiast appeal.
• Carrera 4 GTS: Choose this if you want the GTS character plus AWD. It is the right fit if you want a more capable all-weather performance setup.
• Turbo: This is the step-up if you want a major jump in power and are shopping for a more extreme 911. It is best for buyers who want serious speed and are less concerned about cost.
• Turbo S: This is the top choice if you want maximum performance and are comfortable with the highest pricing in the lineup. It is the most over-the-top road-going option here.
• GT3: This is the trim for you if track focus matters more than comfort or value. It is the most specialized choice in the lineup.
• GT3 Touring: Choose this if you want GT3-level performance with a more restrained character. It suits buyers who want the performance hardware without the most aggressive presentation.

The safety package is limited compared with mainstream cars, and advanced safety features are not standard, so check option content carefully before you commit.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Porsche 911?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you should shop with patience and compare listings closely.

• Deal availability: 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 913 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.30% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 94.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $212,644, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Porsche 911's resale value?

The current average of $217,583 sits slightly above last year's $212,701.

That upward move suggests the market still places strong value on this model year. For a future seller, that can be a positive sign because steady demand tends to support pricing when you decide to move on.

The 911’s combination of desirability, strong owner satisfaction, and broad enthusiast appeal should help it remain attractive to used buyers. If the car is well maintained and properly documented, that can further support resale strength over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Porsche 911 safe?

The Porsche 911 has not been evaluated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), which isn’t unusual for high-end luxury vehicles.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking and lane-keep assist are standard on the base Carrera. The optional Premium package adds adaptive headlights, a surround-view camera system, and blind-spot monitoring. Other options include night vision and an integrated dashcam feature.

Compared with conventional sedans and SUVs, the 911 offers very few safety features, and that limited equipment list is part of the trade-off you make for a sports car.

Should I buy a 2022 Porsche 911 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.30% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 keeps the 911’s approachable performance and everyday drivability intact.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $222,619, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $217,583 average.
• It adds more variants, including the Carrera T, GT3 RS, Sport Classic, and Dakar.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger value proposition, the 2022 is the better starting point because it still delivers the core 911 formula with solid market support. If you are willing to pay more for a broader lineup and newer options, the 2023 is the better fit.
