How much does the 2022 Honda Civic cost?

Prices have softened 4.46% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,704 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Honda Civic a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Honda Civic earns a 4.9/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

Owners consistently praise its blend of technology, comfort, and driving performance, along with its smooth ride and impressive fuel economy. The feedback also points to a car that feels polished and practical, with advanced features that make daily driving easier.

The main trade-offs are the base stereo and a few missing convenience features on some versions. Honda positions this Civic as a redesigned compact sedan with broad appeal, especially if you want a car that feels more refined than basic.

With 34.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Honda Civic reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a car that feels dependable, with many drivers highlighting its smooth ride, strong fuel economy, and overall confidence in day-to-day use. That kind of praise suggests you can count on it for regular commuting and routine ownership.

Honda’s testing notes also emphasize trust, predictability, and a demeanor that never feels surprising, which supports the impression of a trouble-free ownership experience. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about core reliability and more about making sure the specific car you choose has been cared for properly.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Honda Civic?

At 68.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a close inspection of body panels, paint consistency, and signs of prior repair. It’s also smart to focus on the condition of the interior electronics, infotainment system, and any convenience features that may vary by trim.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX and Sport are the more basic versions, while EX and Touring add more equipment and better tech. The base trims miss the blind-spot warning system, which is a meaningful feature gap.
• Powertrain: The LX and Sport use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 158 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque, while EX and Touring get a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder with 180 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. The turbo engine is the stronger and more satisfying choice.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing includes Traffic Jam Assist, Level 2 adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and Lane Keeping Assist. EX adds blind-spot warning, and Touring adds rear cross-traffic alert.
• Infotainment: The standard setup includes a 7-inch touchscreen, volume and tuning knobs, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Touring upgrades to a 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, HD radio, satellite radio, and navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbocharged engine is described as delivering a satisfying blend of performance and efficiency, though no official MPG figure is stated in the provided data.

Which 2022 Honda Civic trim should I buy?

The 2022 Honda Civic is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, Sport, EX, Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, but it’s the most stripped-down version and misses the blind-spot warning system. It makes sense only if you want the lowest starting point and can live with the basic stereo and simpler equipment.
• Sport: This trim adds some visual and equipment upgrades, but it still lacks blind-spot warning. It’s a reasonable middle ground if you want a little more content without moving up to the pricier trims.
• EX: This is the best-value trim because it adds the turbocharged engine and the proper blind-spot warning system. If you want the strongest mix of performance, safety, and everyday usability, this is the one to target.
• Touring: This is the most fully equipped version, with the larger digital display, premium audio, wireless smartphone features, navigation, and rear cross-traffic alert. It’s the right pick if you want the most technology and comfort, but it also carries the highest price.

For safety, the EX is the best choice for younger drivers because it adds blind-spot warning, while Touring adds rear cross-traffic alert.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Honda Civic?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,704 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.46% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 68.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,763, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Honda Civic's resale value?

The current average of $21,836 sits slightly below last year's $22,855.

That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim choice rather than assuming the market will lift every example equally.

Because the Civic still has strong owner satisfaction and broad appeal, well-kept examples should remain easier to move than less desirable compact cars. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Honda Civic safe?

The 2022 Honda Civic earns strong safety marks from both IIHS and NHTSA, and Honda’s upgraded Sensing suite adds a broad set of driver-assistance features.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing includes Traffic Jam Assist, Level 2 adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and Lane Keeping Assist. The system also uses a wide-view front camera and eight ultrasonic sonar sensors, and the Civic finally adds a proper blind-spot warning system with rear cross-traffic alert on higher trims.

There is one important caveat: the base LX and Sport trims do not get blind-spot warning. That makes trim choice especially important if safety equipment is a priority for you.

Should I buy a 2022 Honda Civic or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 68.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.46% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Honda’s redesign is a major strength this year, with improved engineering and technology.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $19,106, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $21,836 average.
• The outgoing model offers a last-chance version of the previous generation with distinctive styling and broad appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the more refined, better-equipped Civic, the 2022 is the stronger choice. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2021 is the more budget-friendly path and still offers plenty of Civic practicality.
