Summary
With 1,862 currently listed for sale and an average price of $38,874, 31.5% of 2021 Toyota Tundras for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2021 Toyota Tundra 4.55 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.33 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2021 Toyota Tundra stands out as a full-size pickup that leans on proven fundamentals rather than chasing the newest trends. Its design and underpinnings date back to the mid-2000s, yet Toyota kept it relevant with modern infotainment and safety technologies. That combination gives it an old-school feel without making it feel completely out of step with the market.
For buyers, the Tundra’s appeal comes from its strong core strengths: a powerful engine, spacious cabin, and good towing capacity. Those traits make it a practical choice for work and everyday use, and owner feedback reinforces the sense that it delivers a comfortable ride and a solid, reliable experience. At the same time, its age shows in limited bed and cab configurations, poor fuel economy, and outdated technology, so it is best suited to shoppers who value capability and simplicity over the latest features.

Smooth ride, very quite, and comfortable. We love it and won’t be buying but a Toyota Tundra from now on; I just wish that I checked into them sooner, my wife had been wanting one for years. Yes, it is a good value. Only thing missing on mine is a hard cover camper for the bed. But I plan on getting that taken care of. Compared to my last truck, 1500 Ram has nothing on this truck. This truck has more in its extras, smoother and quiter ride, and it looks better.

The user feedback points to a truck that feels reliable, dependable, and built for the long-term, with many owners saying they can count on it for everyday use. The expert evaluation also emphasizes Toyota’s durable, proven approach and notes that the truck is still rugged enough to take abuse.
Toyota’s Safety Sense P suite adds a layer of confidence with forward-collision warning and avoidance, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control. The Tundra also includes eight airbags, tire pressure monitoring, trailer sway control, and an integrated trailer brake controller.
For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about mechanical novelty and more about age-related wear, so condition and maintenance history matter a lot.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Toyota Tundra?
At 74.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has been used for towing or work. Focus on overall condition, signs of wear in the cabin and bed, and whether the truck’s equipment matches the listing. Because this model year can be found in a wide range of trims and configurations, it’s worth checking that the features you want are actually present.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The SR is the most basic version, with halogen headlights with LED accents, 18-inch steel wheels, heated power side mirrors, manual climate control, cloth seating, and an easy lift-and-lower tailgate. The SR5 adds power-adjustable front seats and an 8-inch touchscreen, while the Limited brings a more complete feature set with 20-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, leather upholstery, and a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat.
- Powertrain: You get Toyota’s I-Force 5.7-liter V8, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard, and four-wheel drive with low range is available. The engine delivers strong acceleration, and the truck is comfortable over rough surfaces.
- Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense P is standard and includes forward-collision warning and avoidance, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control. Optional features include front and rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
- Infotainment: The truck comes standard with a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, Bluetooth, multiple USB ports, and a WiFi hotspot trial. An available 8-inch touchscreen adds navigation, and the SR5 CrewMax can upgrade to a larger screen and more speakers.
- Fuel efficiency: The rear-wheel-drive model returns 13 mpg city, 17 highway, and 15 combined, while the four-wheel-drive version returns 13 mpg city, 17 highway, and 14 combined.
Which 2021 Toyota Tundra trim should I buy?
The 2021 Toyota Tundra is offered in 6 trim levels: SR, SR5, Limited, TRD Pro, Platinum, and 1794 Edition.
Here's the short version:
- SR: This is the value-focused starting point, and it gives you the core Tundra experience with the standard safety suite, basic comfort features, and the updated infotainment setup. It makes sense if you want the lowest entry price and don’t need luxury touches.
- SR5: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds power-adjustable front seats and the larger 8-inch touchscreen, while still staying below the more expensive luxury-oriented trims. If you want a better daily-driver setup without jumping too far in price, this is the one to target.
- Limited: This is the trim to choose if you want the most complete all-around package without stepping into the specialty trims. It adds 20-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, leather upholstery, and a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, making it the most balanced upgrade.
- TRD Pro: This is the off-road-focused choice, with a 2-inch lift, Fox off-road shock absorbers, all-terrain tires, beefed-up skid plates, and a TRD exhaust. It suits you best if you want the most rugged version of the Tundra.
- Platinum: This trim leans into comfort and appearance with heated-and-ventilated front seats, leather-and-woodgrain trim, chrome heated power-folding auto-dimming mirrors, and unique exterior styling. It’s for you if you want a more upscale truck.
- 1794 Edition: This trim largely mirrors the Platinum’s content but adds its own unique visual and interior touches. It’s the pick if you want the premium feel with a more distinctive look.
Toyota Safety Sense P is standard across the lineup, so you get the core driver-assistance package even on lower trims.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Toyota Tundra?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you have room to shop, but the best listings still deserve quick attention.
- Deal availability: 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,858 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.53% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 74.7% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $36,593, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 Toyota Tundra's resale value?
The current average of $38,810 sits slightly below last year's $39,414.
That tells you the market has softened a bit, which can help you as a buyer today but may temper short-term resale gains if you plan to sell soon. The current pricing trend suggests the truck is holding value reasonably well rather than dropping sharply, which is a positive sign for long-term ownership. If you keep the truck in strong condition and maintain it well, you should be in a better position when it’s time to trade or sell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.55/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2021 Toyota Tundra or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 74.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.53% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.55/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2021 keeps the old-school Tundra formula relevant with modern infotainment and standard safety tech.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $36,682, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $38,810 average.
- It emphasizes bulletproof reliability and a spacious cabin.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $39,103, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $38,810 average.
- It brings an all-new design with broader updates and more flexibility.
The bottom line: If you want the proven V8-era Tundra with strong owner satisfaction and a softer used-market price, the 2021 is the smart default. If your priority is saving money, the 2020 is the better value play; if you want the newer redesign, it makes sense to move up to the 2022 instead.
