What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Toyota Sienna?

At 72% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re comparing multiple listings at similar prices. Focus on condition details that matter in a family hauler: cabin wear, electronics, and signs of hard use. If you’re shopping for a road-trip vehicle, make sure the features you care about are actually present on the trim you’re considering.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup starts with LE and moves through XLE, XSE, Limited, and Platinum, with the lower trim using a six-speaker stereo while higher trims add more upscale audio and convenience equipment.
• Powertrain: A 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors produce 243 horsepower, with FWD standard and AWD available across the lineup.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard and includes full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control, lane-tracing assist, pre-collision system with pedestrian and bicyclist detection, lane-departure alert, automatic high beams, and road sign assist.
• Infotainment: A nine-inch touchscreen is standard, along with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, and Bluetooth; wireless smartphone integration is not mentioned.

Which 2021 Toyota Sienna trim should I buy?

The 2021 Toyota Sienna is offered in 5 trim levels: LE, XLE, XSE, Limited, Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the entry point, but it still gives you the standard hybrid powertrain, Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, and the nine-inch touchscreen, making it the value play if you want the core Sienna experience without paying for extras.
• XLE: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more convenience and tech while staying below the pricier luxury-oriented trims.
• XSE: This trim adds a more distinctive look and sits in the middle of the lineup for buyers who want a sportier presentation without jumping to the top end.
• Limited: This is where you start getting more premium audio and convenience upgrades, making it a strong choice if you want a more upscale family hauler.
• Platinum: This is the most fully equipped version, with the highest-end tech and comfort features for buyers who want the most advanced Sienna available.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard on all trim levels.

• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.27% compared with last year.

What is the 2021 Toyota Sienna's resale value?

The current average of $34,107 sits slightly below last year's $35,627.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. Should I buy a 2021 Toyota Sienna or consider a different year?

Choose the 2021 if:

• 37.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 72% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.27% compared with last year.

• Toyota’s redesign brings a standard hybrid powertrain and a major makeover.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $26,458, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $34,107 average.
• It’s a practical, space-focused minivan with rare all-wheel-drive availability.

Consider the 2022 if:
