How much does the 2018 Toyota Sienna cost?

Is the 2018 Toyota Sienna a good car?

Generally — the 2018 Toyota Sienna earns a 4.4/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Cost effectiveness.

Drivers consistently praise its spaciousness, reliability, and all-wheel-drive capability. The overview also frames it as a family-first minivan built to make hauling kids and cargo easier, which matches the recurring feedback about practicality and usefulness. Even so, some shoppers may wish it offered more features for the price, especially given the complaints about missing navigation and hands-free technology.

With 35.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2018 Toyota Sienna reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback repeatedly points to reliability, and the expert review also describes the Sienna as having a deserved reputation for dependability. The cost-effectiveness discussion reinforces that theme by noting its dependable reputation and the fact that dealers are usually dealing because it is one of the oldest designs in a mature segment. Toyota also includes free scheduled maintenance for the first 2 years or 25,000 miles of ownership, which helps reduce early ownership costs.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that age-related wear and model-specific issues can still show up, so a careful inspection matters even when the reputation is strong.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Toyota Sienna?

At 56.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can check for signs of bodywork, uneven panel gaps, or other condition issues that may not show up in photos. Because this model is often bought for family duty, it also makes sense to focus on interior wear, sliding-door operation, and overall maintenance history.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Toyota’s sport-tuned SE trim adds a mesh grille, darkened headlights, rocker panel skirts, special taillights, unique instrumentation, black leather seats with white exposed stitching, and sport-tuned steering and suspension. The base L trim gets the fewest convenience features, while higher trims add more equipment and available upgrades.
• Powertrain: The Sienna uses a 3.5-liter V6 with 296 horsepower and an 8-speed automatic. AWD is available only on LE, XLE, and Limited trims, and the SE adds sport-tuned steering and suspension for a more lively feel.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available on SE and standard on XLE and Limited.
• Infotainment: Even the base L trim gets a Scout connected navigation system and more USB ports. All trims except the L have Safety Connect subscription services and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not offered.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert review says the Sienna SE returned 18.9 mpg on a test loop, versus an EPA estimate of 22 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2018 Toyota Sienna trim should I buy?

The 2018 Toyota Sienna is offered in 5 trim levels: L, LE, SE, XLE, Limited.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the simplest entry point, but it still gets a Scout connected navigation system and more USB ports. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Sienna lineup and can live without the extra convenience and safety-adjacent features found higher up.
• LE: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it opens the door to AWD, which is one of the Sienna’s biggest selling points. If all-wheel drive matters to you, this is the trim to focus on first.
• SE: This is the style-and-driving-interest trim, with sport-tuned steering and suspension, unique exterior and interior touches, and available blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. It suits you if you want the Sienna to feel a little more distinctive.
• XLE: This is the more comfort-oriented choice, and it adds standard blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. It is a strong pick if you want a better-equipped family hauler without going all the way to the top trim.
• Limited: This is the most feature-rich version, with the strongest tech and convenience story, including the available premium JBL sound system and the 360-degree surround-view monitor with the Premium Package. It is the right choice if you want the most upscale Sienna experience.

Toyota Safety Sense is standard across the lineup, while blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard on XLE and Limited.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Toyota Sienna?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,305 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.78% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 56.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,451, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Toyota Sienna's resale value?

The current average of $21,518 sits slightly below last year's $22,363.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become a little more favorable for buyers, which can limit upside for a future seller in the near term. If you buy well and keep the van in strong condition, you may still preserve value better than average because family-friendly minivans with strong practicality tend to stay in demand. The key is to avoid overpaying now, since resale value is easier to protect when your purchase price is already near the lower end of the range.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Toyota Sienna safe?

The 2018 Toyota Sienna does not earn a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS, and it earns a four-star frontal-impact rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense is standard, and it includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Safety Connect is also included on most versions, bringing automatic collision notification, emergency assistance, and roadside assistance. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available on SE and standard on XLE and Limited.

The main caveat is the weaker crash-test performance relative to some rivals, especially the Acceptable result in the IIHS driver-side small overlap test and the four-star frontal-impact result from NHTSA.

Should I buy a 2018 Toyota Sienna or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.78% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2018 model year adds a refreshed front end, extra USB charging ports, and standard Toyota Safety Sense.

The bottom line: If you want a well-equipped family minivan with available AWD and strong practicality, the 2018 is a sensible target. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can also shop nearby years, but the 2018 stands out for its refreshed equipment and broad appeal.

How does the 2018 Toyota Sienna compare to the 2018 Honda Odyssey?

Our experts score the 2018 Toyota Sienna 7.2/10 and the 2018 Honda Odyssey 8/10.

The Odyssey has the stronger expert score and a better accident-free share, while the Sienna counters with a lower average used price and available all-wheel drive. The Sienna also brings standard Toyota Safety Sense and a more value-oriented ownership story, but the Odyssey looks like the stronger overall pick if you want the higher-rated minivan. If AWD matters to you, though, the Sienna has a clear advantage.
