Used 2021 Toyota Sequoia for Sale nearPhiladelphia, PA

How much does the 2021 Toyota Sequoia cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 139 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2021 Toyota Sequoia a good car?

Generally — you’re looking at a 4.4/5 owner-rated SUV with an expert score of 7/10. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

Owners consistently point to its practical layout, good looks, and reliable performance, along with a smooth ride and ample features. The Sequoia’s truck-like capability and roomy three-row packaging also fit buyers who want serious space rather than a carlike crossover feel.

The trade-offs are clear: poor fuel economy and poor handling are recurring drawbacks, and the value proposition is weaker than many shoppers will want. That said, the Sequoia’s older-school character makes sense if you prioritize space, capability, and simplicity over refinement.

With 31.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s still some room to shop carefully for value.

Is the 2021 Toyota Sequoia reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to reliable performance, and the vehicle’s age is framed as part of why it can feel dependable over time. The expert review also describes the Sequoia’s age as a factor that can support good reliability, since it has had a long production run without major retooling.

That said, used buyers should still watch for wear-and-tear risks tied to age, mileage, and maintenance history, especially on higher-priced examples.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Toyota Sequoia?

At 72.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on body condition, signs of prior repair, and overall mechanical wear. Because this model year can command strong prices, it’s worth being especially careful about whether the condition matches the asking price.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SR5 starts with 18-inch alloy wheels, LED fog lights, three-zone climate control, pushbutton start, remote keyless entry, a 7-inch touchscreen, a power moonroof, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. The SR5 Premium Package adds a power-folding/reclining third row, power-adjustable front passenger seat, leather upholstery, and heated front seats. The Limited adds leather upholstery, heated front seats, auto-dimming chrome-clad power side mirrors with integrated turn signals, a power liftgate, navigation, and a 12-speaker premium audio system. The Nightshade Edition adds black 20-inch wheels, black leather upholstery, second-row captain’s chairs, and LED fog lights with dark chrome surrounds. The TRD Pro is the most ruggedly equipped trim, with Rigid Industries LED fog lights, 18-inch BBS forged aluminum TRD wheels, Fox Racing shocks, a TRD-tuned suspension, beefed-up skid plates, and a limited-slip center differential. The Platinum adds heated-and-ventilated front seats, heated second-row captain’s chairs, a larger 9-inch touchscreen, a power-adjustable steering wheel, and air suspension.
• Powertrain: Every trim uses a 5.7-liter V8 with 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard, and four-wheel drive is available. The engine delivers stout acceleration and truck-like driving dynamics, but it also contributes to weak fuel economy.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense-P is standard and includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, and automatic high beams. You also get blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and front-and-rear parking sensors. There are no optional safety features, and you do not get lane-keeping assist or lane-tracing assist.
• Infotainment: The standard setup is a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, and a WiFi hotspot. A 9-inch screen appears on higher-spec examples, and the system is described as easy to use with simple menus and physical buttons.
• Fuel efficiency: The Sequoia returns 13 mpg city, 17 mpg highway, and 15 mpg combined in rear-wheel-drive form. The four-wheel-drive version keeps the same city and highway figures and returns 14 mpg combined.

Which 2021 Toyota Sequoia trim should I buy?

The 2021 Toyota Sequoia is offered in 6 trim levels: SR5, TRD Sport, Limited, Nightshade Edition, TRD Pro, and Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• SR5: This is the entry point, and it already gives you the core Sequoia experience with standard V8 power, a 7-inch touchscreen, and useful everyday equipment. If you want the lowest-cost path into the model, this is the trim to start with.
• TRD Sport: This trim adds unique styling, Bilstein shocks, and a TRD sport-tuned suspension. It suits you if you want a slightly more distinctive look and a firmer setup without jumping to the off-road-focused model.
• Limited: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds leather upholstery, heated front seats, navigation, a power liftgate, and a 12-speaker premium audio system. It feels like the sweet spot if you want a more upscale Sequoia without going all the way to the top.
• Nightshade Edition: This trim leans into appearance upgrades with black wheels and black leather upholstery, plus second-row captain’s chairs. It makes sense if style matters more than maximizing equipment value.
• TRD Pro: This is the trim to choose if you want the most rugged setup, with Fox Racing shocks, skid plates, a TRD-tuned suspension, and a limited-slip center differential. It is the most specialized version in the lineup.
• Platinum: This is the most luxurious trim, adding heated-and-ventilated front seats, heated second-row captain’s chairs, a larger 9-inch touchscreen, a power-adjustable steering wheel, and air suspension. Choose it if comfort is your top priority.

Toyota Safety Sense-P is standard across the lineup, and there are no optional safety features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Toyota Sequoia?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you should shop with a clear target and be ready to move on a strong listing.

• Deal availability: 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 139 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 72.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $47,338, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Toyota Sequoia's resale value?

The current average of $47,867 sits slightly above last year's $47,668.

That small increase suggests the Sequoia has held its value fairly steadily rather than swinging sharply in either direction. For a future seller, that kind of stability can be helpful because it points to a market that is still willing to pay for the model’s space, V8 power, and truck-like character.

The current pricing also suggests that well-kept examples should remain easier to move than neglected ones, especially if they present clean history and strong condition. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Toyota Sequoia safe?

The 2021 Toyota Sequoia earns four-star ratings in the NHTSA rollover test.

It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense-P is standard and includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, and automatic high beams. You also get blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and front-and-rear parking sensors.

There are no optional safety features, and the Sequoia does not include lane-keeping assist or lane-tracing assist. The rollover result is the main caveat to keep in mind.

Should I buy a 2021 Toyota Sequoia or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 72.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 model year adds the Nightshade Special Edition and keeps the Sequoia’s easy-to-use tech and standard V8 setup.

Consider the 2022 if:

• It keeps the same old-school full-size SUV formula while adding a more current model-year context.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of current pricing stability, owner satisfaction, and familiar equipment, the 2021 is the safer buy. If you’re mainly shopping for the newest available version of this same formula, the 2022 is the cleaner alternative, but it does not change the Sequoia’s basic character.
