Why it stands out
The 2021 Honda Accord stands out as one of the bestselling cars in the U.S. for good reason. For the 2021 model year, Honda took the Accord in a more elevated direction by refining its features list, adding a trim level, and pricing it to compete against other heavyweights in the industry. Honda also made safety a priority in the 2021 Accord, helping this fresh version earn high praise.
It has several clear strengths that help explain its appeal. The Accord is stylish, handles well, and offers a spacious cabin. At the same time, it does have a couple of drawbacks: all-wheel drive is not available, and its technology is described as outdated.

I think the car has all features that I needed . Because of the low miles and condition I think it was great value. Only thing it was missing was a sunroof . the most similar options are the camry xse and bmw 3 Series.

My second Accord, this was to replace a 2018 that was totaled in an accident. I've driven a Camry, K5, Buick Regal, Altima, and several other sedans and this is the best built in a world with fewer and fewer available

How much does the 2021 Honda Accord cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $21,796 |
| Year-Round Low | $21,642 |
| Year-Round High | $23,196 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $23,195 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −6.03% |
Prices have softened 6.03% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 3,136 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for used shoppers.
Is the 2021 Honda Accord a good car?
Yes — 4.6/5 is a strong user rating for this model year, and the expert rating is 9.17/10. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.
Drivers consistently praise its great performance, luxurious features, and good gas mileage. The review summary also points to a modern look and technology, while noting that some shoppers feel the car is not the fastest model available.
That lines up with the broader use case here: you’re looking at a stylish, well-rounded sedan with a spacious cabin that’s meant to compete with other mainstream heavyweights. The main trade-off is that all-wheel drive is not available, and the technology is described as outdated.
With 31.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s still room to find a compelling value.
Is the 2021 Honda Accord reliable?
Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The review summary points to a car that owners feel good about living with over time, especially because it delivers a mix of performance, comfort, and efficiency that many drivers can count on. The expert notes also reinforce that this Accord is positioned as a refined, practical sedan rather than a complicated one.
Honda’s performance notes add to that dependability picture: the 1.5-liter turbo engine gets a faster idle-stop restart for 2021, and the braking system was upgraded to engage more smoothly at low speeds. The cost-effectiveness notes also mention fair pricing and a straightforward trim ladder, which can help keep ownership predictable.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about mechanical drama and more about choosing a well-kept example with the right maintenance history.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Honda Accord?
At 63.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been in a prior collision or has higher mileage. Focus on condition, repair quality, and whether the equipment on the car matches the trim you’re considering.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The LX is the base model, and the higher trims add more comfort and convenience equipment. The Sport SE is a notable step up from the Sport 1.5T with leather-trimmed seats, heated front seats, a four-way power-adjustable passenger seat, a 12-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated mirrors, keyless entry, and remote engine start.
- Powertrain: You get a 192-horsepower turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder with a CVT on the LX, Sport, Sport SE, and EX-L, while the Sport 2.0T and Touring use a 252-hp 2.0-liter turbo-four with a 10-speed automatic. The smaller engine is the efficiency play, while the larger one is the stronger choice for driving enjoyment.
- Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, and automatic high beams. Higher trims add rear-seat reminder, low-speed braking control, and blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert.
- Infotainment: Every Accord gets an 8-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, hands-free text messaging, and two USB ports. Higher trims add wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless phone charger, a 10-speaker premium audio system, WiFi hot spot, and Near Field Communication.
- Fuel efficiency: The 1.5-liter engine is rated at 30 mpg city, 38 mpg highway, and 33 mpg combined, while the 2.0-liter engine returns 22 mpg city, 32 mpg highway, and 26 mpg combined.
Which 2021 Honda Accord trim should I buy?
The 2021 Honda Accord is offered in 6 trim levels: LX, Sport 1.5T, Sport Special Edition (SE), EX-L, Sport 2.0T, and Touring.
Here's the short version:
- LX: This is the value entry point if you want the Accord’s core strengths without paying for extras. It gets the standard 1.5-liter turbo engine, the 8-inch touchscreen, and Honda Sensing, so it covers the essentials well.
- Sport 1.5T: This is the best-value pick for many shoppers because it adds a more upscale look and sportier feel without jumping to the pricier powertrain. It also gets paddle shifters and the same efficient engine as the LX.
- Sport Special Edition (SE): Choose this if you want the Sport formula with more comfort and convenience. It builds on the Sport 1.5T with leather-trimmed seats, heated front seats, a power-adjustable passenger seat, heated mirrors, keyless entry, and remote engine start.
- EX-L: This is the comfort-focused step up if you want a more premium cabin and available moonroof equipment. It also keeps the efficient 1.5-liter engine, which makes it a sensible upscale choice.
- Sport 2.0T: Pick this if you care most about stronger acceleration and a more engaging drive. It pairs the 2.0-liter turbo engine with the 10-speed automatic and adds the more powerful character this model line can deliver.
- Touring: This is the top trim if you want the most equipment, including the head-up display and HomeLink Remote. It also gets the most complete parking sensor setup and the strongest tech presentation in the lineup.
The safety package is standard across the lineup, but blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert and rear-seat reminder are reserved for higher trims.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Honda Accord?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.
- Deal availability: 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 3,136 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.03% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 63.4% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $21,642, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 Honda Accord's resale value?
The current average of $21,796 sits slightly below last year's $23,195.
That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help future resale if you buy at the right number today. If you pay close to the low end of the range, you give yourself a better chance of limiting depreciation later.
Strong demand also matters here: the Accord’s broad appeal, good owner satisfaction, and reputation for being a practical sedan should help keep it attractive to used buyers. The key is to avoid overpaying now, because resale value is strongest when your purchase price is disciplined.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2021 Honda Accord safe?
The 2021 Honda Accord earns Top Safety Pick+ from IIHS and a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in all crash testing scenarios.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Every Accord comes standard with Honda Sensing, which includes lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, and automatic high beams. Standard safety equipment also includes vehicle stability assist with traction control, brake assist, a rearview camera, and LED daytime running lights.
Higher trims add rear-seat reminder, low-speed braking control, and blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert. If you want parking sensors, those are reserved for the EX-L and Touring trims.
Should I buy a 2021 Honda Accord or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 63.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.03% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- Honda refined the features list, added a trim level, and made safety a priority.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $20,283, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $21,796 average.
- It feels unusually complete, with strong comfort, space, and easy-to-use tech.
The bottom line: If you want the newer Accord with updated features and strong safety credentials, the 2021 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2020 is the smarter value play, especially if you find a clean example with the equipment you want.
