Is the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS a good car?

Yes — 5/5 is a strong user rating for this model year.

The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS stands out as the roomiest vehicle in Mercedes-Benz’s lineup, with three rows of seating for six or seven people and up to 94 cubic feet of cargo space. It is positioned as a midsize SUV that blends the comfort and space of the S-Class luxury sedan with some off-road capability, which helps explain its appeal if you want a large, upscale utility vehicle without giving up Mercedes refinement.

For your shopping decision, that means you’re looking at a three-row luxury SUV that prioritizes space, comfort, and a long list of standard features. 37.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS is described as a polished, well-equipped SUV with a strong emphasis on comfort, cabin quality, and technology. It also comes with standard features such as 4Matic all-wheel drive, Airmatic air suspension, dual 12.3-inch displays with MBUX, navigation, and a Burmester surround sound stereo.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the vehicle’s luxury systems and convenience features are functioning properly, since those are central to the ownership experience.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should prioritize a history report first, then focus your inspection on signs of prior damage, uneven wear, or neglected maintenance. Pay close attention to the cabin technology, touch-sensitive controls, third-row access, and overall interior condition, since those are the areas most likely to affect day-to-day satisfaction.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 37.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 809 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.16% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 75.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $31,666, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS's resale value?

The current average of $31,666 sits slightly below last year's $37,769.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. If you plan to resell later, the current softness may limit near-term upside, but it can also make the vehicle easier to move if you buy well.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 37.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.16% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $46,080, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $31,666 average.
• It brings a more upscale, S-Class-like luxury focus with multiple powertrain options.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2020 if you want the better value and a strong mix of space, luxury, and market availability. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2020 is the easier buy; if you want to spend more for a newer, more premium-feeling alternative, the 2021 is the next step up.
