CarGurus Analysis: 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLS
Summary
With 223 currently listed for sale near Baltimore, MD and an average price of $23,802, 34.1% of 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLSs for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLS 4.5 / 5 stars.

Why it stands out
The 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLS stands out as a large, three-row luxury SUV that emphasizes space, comfort, and a premium feel. It offers seating for six or seven people and up to 94 cubic feet of cargo space, making it the roomiest vehicle in the Mercedes-Benz lineup. Mercedes also positioned it as a family-oriented SUV with a blend of S-Class-like comfort and some off-road capability, which gives it a broader mission than many luxury crossovers.
For 2019, the GLS carried a strong equipment list and a wide range of upscale features. The GLS450 used a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 with 362 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, while the GLS550 brought a 4.7-liter twin-turbo V8 with 449 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. Standard or available equipment included 4Matic all-wheel drive, Airmatic air suspension, heated front seats, MB-Tex upholstery, a sunroof, power-folding third-row seats, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation, and a Harman/Kardon surround sound system. The Grand Edition package was also new for the GLS450 and GLS550, adding designo Nappa leather in Porcelain and Espresso Brown with diamond stitching and unique piping, including Nappa leather on the dash.
At the same time, the 2019 GLS was not without drawbacks. The source notes that third-row seat access is a con, and owners also pointed to poor gas mileage and a lack of updated electronics. Even so, its smooth ride, comfort, and luxury features make it appealing to buyers who want a traditional, spacious Mercedes-Benz SUV with a strong emphasis on refinement.

Just a fantastic SUV. Extremely comfortable and handles great. The biggest issue is just awful gas mileage. Maybe 10/12 in the city if youre lucky.

Amazing vehicle and owning a Mercedes is on a completely different level than most cars, SUV’s and trucks on the road today. Great experience. The only negative is they are not cheap and depreciation after 40k miles is accelerated. But in my opinion, it’s worth every penny.

Lacking new and improved electronics and navigation systems. Other than that it is a great model year.

Is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLS a good car?
Yes — the 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLS earns a 4.5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the smooth ride, comfort, and luxury features, and they also like how it delivers a spacious, family-oriented three-row setup with a premium feel. That makes it a strong fit if you want a large luxury SUV that prioritizes refinement and everyday comfort. With 37.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.
Is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLS reliable?
Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a vehicle that many drivers find dependable and easy to live with over time, especially when it comes to comfort and overall ownership experience. At the same time, the mention of rapid depreciation after 40,000 miles suggests you should pay close attention to mileage, maintenance history, and condition if you want to reduce long-term ownership risk.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLS?
At 69.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from those with prior damage. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially for signs of bodywork, uneven wear, or deferred maintenance. Because this is a large luxury SUV, you should also focus on overall condition and how well the vehicle has been maintained rather than just the asking price.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLS?

What is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLS's resale value?
The current average of $23,386 sits slightly below last year's $26,777.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at a strong price and keep the vehicle in excellent condition, you can help protect your future resale position. Demand should remain supported by the GLS's luxury appeal and three-row practicality, but depreciation is still something you should factor into your ownership plan.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLS or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 37.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 69.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 12.66% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: The 2019 GLS makes the most sense if you want a spacious, comfort-focused luxury SUV and you find a well-kept example at a competitive price. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare it with nearby model years to see whether a newer or older GLS offers a better balance of condition, equipment, and value for your budget.
