What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Land Rover Range Rover?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially because this is a complex luxury SUV with a lot of technology and equipment. Focus on overall condition, how the electronics operate, and whether the vehicle has been maintained consistently. If possible, spend extra time testing the infotainment, climate controls, and driver-assistance features.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trim includes leather seating, heated power-adjustable front seats, tri-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, a WiFi hotspot, and a hands-free tailgate. HSE adds 20-way power-adjustable front seats, upgraded perforated leather upholstery, heated rear seats, and power-reclining rear seats. Autobiography adds semi-aniline leather, quad-zone climate control, heated-and-ventilated front seats, and massaging front seats. SVAutobiography brings nearly every available feature in the lineup.
• Powertrain: The lineup includes a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, a non-hybrid turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six, a turbodiesel V6, a supercharged 5.0-liter V8, and a plug-in hybrid setup. The more efficient choices are the mild-hybrid inline-six, conventional inline-six, and turbodiesel, while the V8s deliver the strongest acceleration.
• Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes low-speed automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, front-and-rear parking sensors, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. Available features include a 360-degree parking camera, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, high-speed automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, driver-drowsiness monitor, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, and traffic-sign recognition.
• Infotainment: The standard setup uses two 10-inch screens with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The upper screen handles navigation, phone, stereo, and smartphone integration, while the lower screen manages climate, seat controls, vehicle settings, and Terrain Response functions.
• Fuel efficiency: The plug-in hybrid is rated at 42 MPGe with 19 miles of electric range and 19 mpg combined in hybrid mode. The diesel returns 22 mpg city, 28 highway, 24 combined. The 2020 Land Rover Range Rover is offered in 4 trim levels: HSE, Autobiography, SVAutobiography Dynamic, and SVAutobiography.

Here's the short version:

• HSE: This is the trim to target if you want the broad Range Rover experience without jumping straight to the highest prices. It adds 20-way power-adjustable front seats, upgraded perforated leather upholstery, heated rear seats, and power-reclining rear seats, making it a strong value choice for shoppers who want more comfort and flexibility than the base setup.
• Autobiography: This trim layers in semi-aniline leather, quad-zone climate control, heated-and-ventilated front seats, and massaging front seats. It suits you if you want a more indulgent cabin and are willing to pay for a bigger step up in luxury.

• SVAutobiography: This is the top luxury trim, with nearly every standard or optional feature available in the Range Rover lineup. It’s the one to choose if you want the most complete and exclusive version of the SUV.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Land Rover Range Rover?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 38.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,014 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.39% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 76.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $33,296, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Land Rover Range Rover's resale value?

The current average of $33,296 sits slightly below last year's $39,823.

That price decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the current average or below, you may have less depreciation left than someone who bought when prices were higher. The Range Rover’s premium positioning still helps support demand, but resale will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and maintenance history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.83/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Land Rover Range Rover safe?

The 2020 Land Rover Range Rover earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety features include low-speed automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, front-and-rear parking sensors, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. You also get traction control, a tire-pressure monitoring system, and a full array of front-and-side-impact airbags.

Available driver-assistance features include a 360-degree parking camera, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, high-speed automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, driver-drowsiness monitor, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, and traffic-sign recognition. The Range Rover also offers a system that helps rear-seat passengers know when it is safe to open the door.

One caveat is that several useful safety technologies are optional rather than standard, so you should check the exact equipment on any used example you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2020 Land Rover Range Rover or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 38.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.39% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.83/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds new infotainment and safety technologies while keeping the broad powertrain lineup.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $39,683, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $33,296 average.
• It keeps the upscale character but adds a newer model-year perspective.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2020 is the smarter starting point because prices are lower and inventory is still healthy. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer example, the 2021 is the cleaner alternative, but the 2020 gives you the stronger price-to-feature balance.
