How much does the 2020 Ford Transit Cargo cost?

Prices have softened 8.56% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,966 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2020 Ford Transit Cargo a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Ford Transit Cargo earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its spaciousness, solid build, and good fuel mileage, and many also find it easy to drive in tight city settings. The overview also points to multiple powertrain options, multiple body styles, and a comfortable driving experience, which makes it especially appealing if you need a van that can be tailored to your work. On the trade-off side, the expert review notes fairly pedestrian performance and says advanced safety features are not standard across the lineup.

With 27.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Ford Transit Cargo reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to solid build quality and a vehicle that feels easy to live with, while the expert review describes it as a versatile blank canvas with creature comforts that make long workdays easier. The expert notes also emphasize a comfortable cabin and manageable driving behavior, which supports the sense that this is a van you can count on day to day.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure a hard-working commercial van has been maintained properly and hasn’t been worn down by heavy use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Ford Transit Cargo?

At 67.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a hands-on inspection of body condition, cargo-area wear, and signs of heavy commercial use. It also makes sense to focus on how the van was equipped, since these vehicles can vary widely in setup and features. If you’re comparing multiple listings, pay close attention to whether the van has the comfort and safety equipment you want rather than assuming every example is similarly equipped.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Transit is offered in cargo, passenger, and crew body styles, and the standard equipment is sparse, with 16-inch steel wheels, power-adjustable side mirrors, power locks and windows, manually adjusting front seats, air conditioning, and a basic AM/FM stereo with Bluetooth, dual USB ports, and a 4.0-inch display. Higher-equipped versions can add heated seats, a touchscreen infotainment system, remote keyless entry, remote start, and upgraded upholstery.
• Powertrain: The standard engine is a 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6 with 275 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. An optional 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 delivers 310 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque, and the van uses a new 10-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is available, which can be useful if you drive in colder climates.
• Safety package: Ford made forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, and automatic high beams standard for 2020. Blind-spot monitoring, front-and-rear parking sensors, cross-traffic alert, and a front/rear split-view camera system are optional, so you should check carefully for feature gaps on lower-equipped listings.
• Infotainment: The available SYNC 3 system uses an 8.0-inch touchscreen and includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The van also comes standard with FordPass Connect and a 4G WiFi modem on fleet-sales vans.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert review says the EPA does not require fuel-economy estimates for the cargo van, but the passenger van with the naturally aspirated V6 returns 15 mpg city and 19 highway with rear-wheel drive, or 14 mpg city and 19 highway with all-wheel drive. In weeklong testing, the EcoBoost all-wheel-drive van averaged 16.7 miles per gallon.

Which 2020 Ford Transit Cargo trim should I buy?

The 2020 Ford Transit Cargo is offered in 3 trim levels: T-150, T-250, T-350.

Here's the short version:

• T-150: This is the trim used in the test vehicle and is the most approachable starting point if you want the Transit’s core work-van strengths without moving up the lineup. It gives you the basic Transit formula and is the best-value choice if you want to keep costs down while still getting the model’s practical layout and available comfort and tech upgrades.
• T-250: This is the middle step if you want more capability than the entry trim and expect to use the van for heavier-duty work. It makes sense if your job needs a little more margin than the T-150 but you still want to stay below the top trim.
• T-350: This is the trim to consider if you want the most capability in the lineup and expect the van to work hard. It suits buyers who care more about maximum utility than keeping the purchase as simple as possible.

The safety content notes that advanced driver-assistance features are standard, while blind-spot monitoring and several parking/camera aids remain optional, so check each listing carefully for those extras.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Ford Transit Cargo?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to shop carefully and compare condition, equipment, and price.

• Deal availability: 27.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,966 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.56% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 67.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,363, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Ford Transit Cargo's resale value?

The current average of $22,363 sits slightly below last year's $24,456.

That decline suggests the market has become more favorable for buyers, but it also means a future seller may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy at the right number now and keep the van in strong condition, you may be better positioned when it comes time to resell. The Transit Cargo’s broad appeal as a work vehicle should help support demand, especially for well-equipped examples.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Ford Transit Cargo safe?

The 2020 Ford Transit Cargo earns a strong expert safety score, and Ford made a wide range of driver-assistance features standard for this model year.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring, front-and-rear parking sensors, cross-traffic alert, and a front/rear split-view camera system are optional, so you should verify which features are present on any used listing you consider. The review also notes that large windows and side mirrors help visibility, though the rear-door pillar creates a small blind spot.

Should I buy a 2020 Ford Transit Cargo or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 27.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 67.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.56% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 model year stands out for its newly standard safety technology, available all-wheel drive, and updated powertrain choices.

The bottom line: If you want the Transit Cargo with updated safety tech and a more modern feel, the 2020 is the right year to target. If your priority is simply the lowest possible purchase price, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-maintained example rather than the newest one.
