How much does the 2019 Toyota Avalon cost?

Prices have softened 7.35% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 316 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2019 Toyota Avalon a good car?

Yes — 4.9/5 from owners and 7.5/10 from our experts points to a strong overall showing. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Drivers consistently praise the Avalon’s smooth ride, comfort, and impressive performance, and they also call out its stylish design and strong technology. In use-case terms, that makes it a good fit if you want a full-size sedan that feels upscale, comfortable, and easy to live with.

The trade-offs are clear: the technology is described as outdated, and all-wheel drive is not available. Even so, 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2019 Toyota Avalon reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that feels smooth, comfortable, and impressive over time, with drivers also describing it as stylish and well-equipped. That kind of feedback usually lines up with a vehicle you can count on for everyday use.

The expert notes also reinforce that dependability story by describing the Avalon as tried-and-true and composed, with power to spare. If you’re shopping used, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the car’s condition matches its strong reputation, especially on features and maintenance history.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Toyota Avalon?

At 61.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, alignment, and signs of prior repair. Because the Avalon’s appeal depends heavily on comfort, tech, and safety equipment, you should also make sure the features work as expected and that the car feels consistent on the road.

Key things to evaluate:

The Limited adds 18-inch wheels, a head-up display, leather and wood trim, heated rear seats and steering wheel, wireless phone charging, embedded navigation, and an upgraded JBL stereo. The Touring combines the XSE and Limited equipment and adds adaptive suspension, sport exhaust, active noise cancellation, and Sport+ mode.

Which 2019 Toyota Avalon trim should I buy?

The 2019 Toyota Avalon is offered in 4 trim levels: XLE, XSE, Limited, Touring.

Here's the short version:

• XLE: This is the best-value starting point because it already gives you the Avalon’s core strengths: the V6, the standard safety suite, and a long list of comfort features. If you want the most Avalon for the money, this is the trim to target.
• XSE: Choose this if you want a more expressive look and a sportier feel, thanks to the 19-inch wheels, black exterior trim, sunroof, paddle shifters, and interior upgrades. It’s the right step up if style matters more to you than luxury features.
• Limited: This is the trim to buy if you want the Avalon to feel more premium, with leather and wood trim, a head-up display, heated rear seats, wireless charging, navigation, and the upgraded JBL stereo. It’s the most convincing choice if you want comfort and upscale features without going all the way to the top.
• Touring: This is the most feature-rich version, combining the XSE and Limited equipment and adding adaptive suspension, sport exhaust, active noise cancellation, and Sport+ mode. Buy this only if you specifically want the fullest equipment list and the most distinctive driving setup.

The safety package is a major part of the Avalon’s appeal, and the Advanced Safety package adds useful extras if you find a car equipped with it.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Toyota Avalon?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 316 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.35% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $23,823, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Toyota Avalon’s resale value?

The current average of $23,823 sits slightly below last year's $25,714.

That decline suggests the Avalon has become more affordable for used buyers, which can help demand in the near term. For a future seller, that means your resale outcome will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car has been maintained.

Because the market still shows meaningful interest in the model, a clean example with strong equipment and a good history should remain easier to move than a neglected one. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Toyota Avalon safe?

The 2019 Toyota Avalon earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with automatic braking and pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, auto high beams, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. The Advanced Safety package adds front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and auto-braking for rear cross-traffic alert.

Should I buy a 2019 Toyota Avalon or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.35% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• With new tech, new looks, and more power, this year feels like a meaningful step forward.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $27,401, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $23,823 average.
• It builds on the 2019 redesign with a more flagship-like feel and a revitalized platform.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2019 is the smarter buy because it combines a lower average price with strong owner satisfaction and a solid safety story. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model-year step forward, the 2020 is the better path.
