How much does the 2019 Ford Explorer cost?

Prices have softened 10.93% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 5,764 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2019 Ford Explorer a good car?

Yes — the 4.6/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the value for money, powerful engine options, and useful features, and the Explorer’s roomy, family-oriented layout makes it a practical fit if you want a midsize SUV with real everyday utility. The market also shows 33.9% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 Ford Explorer reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback highlights reliability as a positive, along with the vehicle’s strong engine choices and advanced features. That said, used buyers should still plan for a careful inspection, because long-term ownership risk is best managed by verifying maintenance history and checking for wear-related issues before you commit.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Ford Explorer?

At 71.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Put inspection priority on body condition, panel alignment, and signs of inconsistent wear, then make sure the cabin, electronics, and seating surfaces match the seller’s description. If a listing looks unusually cheap, use that as a cue to scrutinize condition even more closely.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Ford Explorer?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,764 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.93% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 71.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,437, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Ford Explorer's resale value?

The current average of $16,437 sits slightly below last year's $18,454.

That softer pricing can help you buy more affordably now, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays soft. If you plan to sell later, condition and maintenance history will matter more because buyers tend to reward clean, well-kept examples when the broader market is under pressure. Strong owner satisfaction can still help support demand when it is time to list.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Ford Explorer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 71.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.93% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $21,399, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $16,437 average.
• It adds an all-new chassis with hybrid and high-performance powertrains.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2019 if you want the better value and are willing to shop carefully for condition. If you want newer hardware and more advanced powertrain choices, the 2020 is the stronger upgrade path, but it asks for a much higher budget.
