How much does the 2019 Ford Explorer cost?

Prices have softened 10.41% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 5,760 listings available, which suggests you should have a solid range of options to compare.

Is the 2019 Ford Explorer a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Ford Explorer earns a 4.6/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners commonly praise its value for money, powerful engine options, and advanced features, while the overview highlights its roomy, family-oriented layout and seating for up to seven passengers. That makes it a practical fit if you want a midsize SUV with space, flexibility, and a strong road feel. With 32.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you also have a decent chance of finding a competitive price.

Is the 2019 Ford Explorer reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners frequently describe it as reliable and appreciate that it feels dependable for everyday use, with several noting its trouble-free ownership experience and strong long-term value. The user feedback also points to confidence in the vehicle’s overall durability, even if some shoppers mention minor comfort and convenience complaints. For used buyers, that means the biggest long-term ownership risk is less about broad satisfaction and more about making sure a specific example has been maintained well.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Ford Explorer?

At 70.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and service history before you commit. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on body condition, electrical operation, and signs of uneven wear, since those are the kinds of issues that can matter most on a used SUV. It also makes sense to prioritize examples with clean maintenance records and consistent condition inside and out.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Ford Explorer?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find value.

• Deal availability: 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,760 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.41% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 70.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,354, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Ford Explorer's resale value?

The current average of $16,354 sits slightly below last year's $18,255.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point. For a future seller, it also means resale value may be more sensitive to condition, mileage, and maintenance history than it would be in a rising market. Well-kept examples should still attract interest because the Explorer remains a popular family SUV with broad appeal.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Ford Explorer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 70.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.41% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $21,255, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $16,354 average.
• It brings an all-new chassis and more technology.

The 2019 is the better value play if you want a roomy, well-liked SUV at a lower price. If you can stretch your budget and want the newer redesign, the 2020 is the stronger upgrade path; otherwise, the 2019 remains the smarter buy for price-sensitive shoppers.
