CarGurus Analysis: 2018 Toyota Sienna
overall

Summary
With 112 currently listed for sale near Providence, RI and an average price of $22,737.00, 39.3% of 2018 Toyota Sierras for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2018 Toyota Sienna 4.4 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.17 / 10.
87.5% of 2018 Sienna models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2018 Toyota Sienna stands out as a minivan built around family practicality, with the kind of space and cargo-hauling usefulness that makes this body style so appealing in the first place. It is especially notable for buyers who want all-wheel drive, since the source specifically says it is not the best choice unless you require that capability. That makes the Sienna a distinctive option in a segment where convenience and versatility matter most.
In everyday use, the 2018 Toyota Sienna’s appeal comes from being an easy vehicle to live with for kids, grandkids, road trips, sporting gear, and home-improvement runs. The test-drive material also points to the minivan’s broad family-friendly role, while owner feedback reinforces its spaciousness, reliability, and all-wheel drive capability. At the same time, some drivers were disappointed by the lack of features such as navigation and hands-free technology, and a few felt the price was too high for what was offered.

We have owned Siennas for 14 years, and they are wonderful! Super dependable, low maintenance expenses as it never has an issue (basically just change the oil and rotate the tires). By the way, were retired and still love it!

|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $21,580 |
| Year-Round Low | $20,450.77 |
| Year-Round High | $22,559.80 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $22,567 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −4.37% |
Prices have softened 4.37% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 1,016 listings available, which suggests a decent amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
If you find a listing below $20,450.77, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2018 Toyota Sienna a good car?
Generally — the 2018 Toyota Sienna earns a 4.4/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating, which points to a strong overall reception. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Cost effectiveness.
Owners repeatedly praise its spaciousness, reliability, and all-wheel drive capability, and the overview frames it as especially useful for kids, grandkids, road trips, sporting gear, and home-improvement runs. That combination makes it a practical fit if you want a family hauler that is easy to live with day to day.
At the same time, some shoppers were disappointed by the lack of features such as navigation and hands-free technology, and a few felt the price was too high for what was offered. With 24.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2018 Toyota Sienna reliable?
Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction. The user feedback specifically highlights spaciousness and reliability, along with a practical, family-friendly character that many drivers feel comfortable counting on.
The expert review also points to a deserved reputation for dependability, and it notes that the Sienna is one of the oldest designs in a mature segment, which can help keep ownership straightforward. On the cost side, free scheduled maintenance for the first 2 years or 25,000 miles adds a useful ownership perk.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a well-used family minivan can hide wear from heavy daily duty, so condition and maintenance history matter a lot.
What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Toyota Sienna?
At 54.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the van has been used for family hauling or long trips. Focus on signs of body repair, interior wear, and any evidence that safety or convenience equipment has been added, removed, or repaired poorly.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The SE trim adds a sportier look with a mesh grille, darkened headlights, rocker panel skirts, special taillights, unique instrumentation, black leather seats with white exposed stitching, and sport-tuned steering and suspension. Base-trim shoppers should pay close attention to feature gaps, since the source notes that even the base L trim gets upgraded infotainment, while other trims add more convenience and safety equipment.
- Powertrain: The Sienna uses a direct-injected 3.5-liter V6 with 296 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic. AWD is available only on LE, XLE, and Limited trims.
- Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available on SE and standard on XLE and Limited.
- Infotainment: The base L trim gets a Scout connected navigation system and more USB ports, while all trims except L add Safety Connect subscription services and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot. A split-screen rear-seat entertainment system that can stream Android content is available on SE, XLE, and Limited, and the Limited with the Premium Package adds a 360-degree surround-view monitor.
- Fuel efficiency: The test vehicle returned 18.9 mpg on the expert test loop, versus an EPA estimate of 22 mpg in combined driving.
Which 2018 Toyota Sienna trim should I buy?
The 2018 Toyota Sienna is offered in 5 trim levels: L, LE, SE, XLE, Limited.
Here's the short version:
- L: This is the entry point, and it still gets upgraded infotainment with a Scout connected navigation system and more USB ports. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Sienna, but you should expect fewer convenience and safety extras than the higher trims.
- LE: This trim is the first one that can be paired with AWD, which matters if that capability is a priority for you. It is a smart choice if you want the Sienna’s core family usefulness with more flexibility than the base model.
- SE: The SE is the best-value pick if you want the sportier personality Toyota built into this van. It adds the sport-tuned look and chassis tuning, and it can also be equipped with blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear-seat entertainment.
- XLE: This is the better choice if you want a more comfort- and convenience-oriented Sienna with standard blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. It also keeps AWD available, which broadens its appeal.
- Limited: This is the most feature-rich version, with the strongest mix of comfort and technology options, including the available premium audio and surround-view camera setup. It suits you best if you want the most upscale Sienna experience.
Toyota Safety Sense is standard across the lineup, while blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard on XLE and Limited.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Toyota Sienna?
This is a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you can shop carefully without assuming every listing is a bargain.
- Deal availability: 24.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,016 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.37% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 54.4% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $20,450.77, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2018 Toyota Sienna's resale value?
The current average of $21,580 sits slightly below last year's $22,567.
That softer pricing suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more carefully now. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment rather than assuming the market will lift all examples equally.
Because this model still has practical family appeal and a reputation for dependability, well-kept examples should remain easier to move than neglected ones. Strong maintenance records and clean history will matter more if you want to protect your exit price later.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2018 Toyota Sienna safe?
The 2018 Toyota Sienna does not earn a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS, and in the driver’s-side small overlap frontal test it gets an Acceptable rating rather than Good. In federal testing, it earns a four-star frontal-impact rating from NHTSA, and NHTSA has not rated it for side-impact protection.
It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.
Toyota Safety Sense is standard, and it includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Safety Connect is also included on most versions, and it adds automatic collision notification, emergency assistance, and roadside assistance.
There is one important caveat: the expert review notes a false forward-collision warning during a curve, and the crash-test results are weaker than some rivals. If safety is your top priority, you should weigh that carefully against the Sienna’s otherwise strong family-friendly equipment.
Should I buy a 2018 Toyota Sienna or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 24.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 54.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.37% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- The 2018 model stands out for standard Toyota Safety Sense and the availability of AWD, which makes it especially distinctive in this segment.
The bottom line: If you want a practical, family-focused minivan with strong owner satisfaction and a market that is a bit softer than last year, the 2018 is a sensible target. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can also use the current inventory and deal share to shop patiently for a cleaner, better-equipped example rather than settling quickly.
