Is the 2017 Toyota Sequoia a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Toyota Sequoia earns a 4.5/5 user rating, and its overview points to a large, truck-based SUV with three-row practicality, body-on-frame toughness, and seating for up to eight passengers depending on configuration. You also get a dependable 5.7-liter V8, standard rear-wheel drive, available part-time four-wheel drive, and family-friendly features such as keyless entry, a tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, and available rear-seat entertainment and climate control. For you, that means this model makes the most sense if you want space, capability, and traditional SUV character more than crossover-like refinement. 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

Is the 2017 Toyota Sequoia reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview emphasizes the Sequoia’s reputation for durability, along with its dependable 5.7-liter V8 and truck-based construction. That combination suggests a used example can be a solid long-term ownership choice if it has been maintained properly and hasn’t been worn down by heavy use.

For you, the main long-term risk is buying a large, older-style SUV that may have seen demanding service, so condition and maintenance history matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Toyota Sequoia?

At 50.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from those with accident records. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially on a full-size SUV that may have been used for towing, family hauling, or long-distance driving.

Focus your inspection on overall condition, signs of wear, and whether the truck-like chassis and drivetrain have been cared for consistently. If a listing looks especially clean, make sure the paperwork and physical condition match before you move forward.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Toyota Sequoia?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 287 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.21% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 50.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,717, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Toyota Sequoia's resale value?

The current average of $27,110 sits slightly below last year's $30,194.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you as a buyer today but may also mean future resale gains are more limited than they were a year ago. If you plan to sell later, you’ll want to protect value by choosing a clean, well-maintained example with strong documentation.

The Sequoia’s rugged reputation and broad utility still support demand among shoppers who want a full-size SUV with truck-based capability. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Toyota Sequoia or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 50.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.21% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2017 if you want a full-size SUV with strong utility, a favorable current price trend, and solid owner satisfaction. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth considering, but the 2017 remains a sensible target when you want the balance of value, capability, and market availability.
