Used 2016 Toyota Tundra for Sale nearBaltimore, MD

How much does the 2016 Toyota Tundra cost?

Prices have softened 2.42% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,297 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2016 Toyota Tundra a good car?

Generally — the 2016 Toyota Tundra earns a 4.29/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 8/10.

Owners commonly praise its power, reliability, smooth ride, interior comfort, and resale value. That lines up with the truck’s straightforward, work-ready character and its appeal to shoppers who want a traditional full-size pickup rather than the latest refinement or efficiency gains. Good and great deals make up 31.4% of listings, so you can still find some value if you shop carefully.

Is the 2016 Toyota Tundra reliable?

Owners rate it 4.29/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to reliability and a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with many drivers saying they can count on the truck’s power and durability. The expert evaluation also describes it as capable and stout, which supports the idea that it’s built for long-term use. Toyota also notes an integrated brake controller on upper trims, and the truck’s straightforward mechanical setup may appeal if you want something familiar and durable.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that repair costs and fuel costs can add up if the truck has been worked hard or poorly maintained.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Toyota Tundra?

At 55.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has towing or work-truck mileage. Focus on signs of body repair, suspension wear, and any evidence of expensive maintenance issues. Because owner feedback mentions oil leaks and repair costs, condition matters a lot on this model.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Platinum example shows how upper trims add a more spacious back seat, a 5.5-foot bed, and a more upscale feel, while the base truck is more straightforward and work-focused.
• Powertrain: A 381-hp 5.7-liter V8 with 401 lb-ft of torque and a 6-speed automatic gives you strong towing ability, but fuel economy is a weak point at 13 mpg city, 17 highway, and 15 combined.
• Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes traction and stability control, trailer brake and sway control, and eight airbags. Available features include a rear camera, front and rear parking sonar, and blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert.
• Infotainment: The upgraded Entune system uses a 7-inch screen and adds real-time traffic and weather. Standard equipment includes heated mirrors and wipers, USB ports, and an auxiliary jack, while SR5 and Limited trims add more convenience and audio features.
• Fuel efficiency: The truck is rated at 13 mpg city, 17 highway, and 15 combined, which is a key tradeoff to weigh against its towing strength.

Which 2016 Toyota Tundra trim should I buy?

The 2016 Toyota Tundra is offered in 3 trim levels: SR5, Limited, Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• SR5: This is the trim to start with if you want the most practical entry point, since it adds fog lights, HD and satellite radio, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror over the standard truck.
• Limited: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds automatic headlights, dual-zone climate control, a power-sliding rear window, and the navigation system.
• Platinum: This is the most upscale choice, and it’s the one to buy if you want the most comfort and convenience features, including the spacious CrewMax setup and driver memory system.

Safety content notes that the rear camera, front and rear parking sonar, and blind-spot monitor with cross-traffic alert are available as options.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Toyota Tundra?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,297 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.42% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 55.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $24,724, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Toyota Tundra's resale value?

The current average of $25,036 sits slightly below last year's $25,657.

That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy in at a more favorable point. For a future seller, that also means resale performance will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the truck has been maintained. Because full-size trucks can be sensitive to fuel costs and repair history, a clean, well-kept example should hold up better than one with visible wear or a rough service record.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.29/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Toyota Tundra safe?

The 2016 Toyota Tundra earns an overall four-star rating from NHTSA, and the CrewMax specifically rated only three stars in frontal impacts and rollovers. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awarded its highest rating of Good in all tested segments.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes traction and stability control, trailer brake and sway control, and eight airbags with full-length side airbags. Available features include a rear camera, front and rear parking sonar, and blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert. The lower CrewMax crash results are the main caveat to keep in mind.

Should I buy a 2016 Toyota Tundra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.42% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.29/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2016 brings an upgraded Entune system, a larger gas tank, and an integrated brake controller on upper trims.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $23,605, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $25,036 average.
• It stands out most in TRD Pro trim, where special suspension upgrades and distinctive detailing give it extra personality.

The bottom line: If you want the better-balanced buy, the 2016 is the stronger pick because it adds useful updates and still offers decent deal availability. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2015 is worth a look, especially if you find a clean TRD Pro example.
