Is the 2015 Toyota Tundra a good car?

Generally — the 2015 Toyota Tundra earns a 4.18/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating, which points to broad owner satisfaction and strong expert approval. Drivers consistently praise its power, reliability, and comfortable ride, while also noting its towing strength and usefulness for heavy work. The Tundra’s full-size-truck appeal is strongest if you want a capable, characterful pickup with a work-ready personality, though fuel economy and interior modernity are recurring tradeoffs. 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2015 Toyota Tundra reliable?

Owners rate it 4.18/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction. Review feedback highlights reliability, and expert commentary also points to dependable over-time ownership, with the truck described as a model you can count on. Toyota’s free scheduled maintenance program for the first 2 years or 25,000 miles adds a useful ownership perk early on. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a thirsty full-size truck can become expensive to live with if maintenance history or fuel costs are a concern.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Toyota Tundra?

At 53.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has been used for towing, hauling, or off-road driving. Pay close attention to body condition, suspension wear, brake feel, and signs of hard use, since those areas matter most on a full-size pickup. If you’re considering a TRD Pro, make sure the off-road hardware and trim-specific equipment are intact and functioning as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The TRD Pro trim stands out with Toyota Racing Development off-roading hardware, including upgraded shocks, a higher ride height, a front skid plate, dual exhaust, and styling enhancements. It is offered on Double Cab or CrewMax versions, and the available equipment makes it the most distinctive choice if you want the truck’s strongest personality and off-road focus.
• Powertrain: The Tundra TRD Pro uses a 5.7-liter V8 with 381 hp and 401 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic and a part-time 4-wheel-drive system. It is rated to tow 9,800 pounds and carry a payload of 1,575 pounds, but fuel economy is a clear weak point, with a week-long average of 14.5 mpg and official estimates of 13 mpg city and 17 mpg highway.
• Safety package: A blind-spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert is available in some versions of the Tundra, but not the TRD Pro. A reversing camera is standard, and Safety Connect services are not available on any Tundra trim.
• Infotainment: The TRD Pro gets a 7-inch touchscreen, navigation, HD Radio, traffic and weather data services, iTunes song-tagging capability, and a quick-charge USB port. The system uses Toyota’s Entune App Suite, but it cannot be upgraded to the JBL premium audio system offered in other versions.
• Fuel efficiency: The truck’s combined estimate is 15 mpg, with 13 mpg city and 17 mpg highway. The test vehicle’s week-long average was 14.5 mpg, reinforcing that fuel costs are a major ownership consideration.

Which 2015 Toyota Tundra trim should I buy?

The 2015 Toyota Tundra is offered in 1 trim level: TRD Pro.

Here's the short version:

The TRD Pro is the clear pick if you want the most distinctive Tundra, with upgraded suspension, off-road hardware, and the strongest visual presence. It suits you best if you value character, capability, and a more adventurous setup over fuel economy or luxury-tech breadth. The safety package note to keep in mind is that blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is not available on the TRD Pro, and Safety Connect is unavailable across the lineup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Toyota Tundra?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on strong listings.

• Deal availability: 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,116 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.69% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 53.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,849, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Toyota Tundra's resale value?

The current average of $23,568 sits slightly below last year's $23,973.

That modest decline suggests the market has softened a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now. For a future seller, the current pricing trend implies you may not see rapid appreciation, but the Tundra’s broad appeal can still support steady demand. Strong owner satisfaction also helps keep interest healthy when it’s time to resell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.18/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Toyota Tundra safe?

The 2015 Toyota Tundra earns Good ratings from IIHS in all assessed tests and a four-star overall rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota’s Safety Connect services are not available on any Tundra trim, and the TRD Pro also misses out on blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. A reversing camera is standard, which helps with visibility in a tall truck, but the lack of some driver-assistance features is a meaningful drawback for shoppers who prioritize safety tech.

Should I buy a 2015 Toyota Tundra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 53.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.69% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.18/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The TRD Pro stands out with suspension upgrades, distinctive styling, and strong off-road personality.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $22,747, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $23,568 average.
• It feels especially well suited to real truck use.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $25,189, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $23,568 average.
• It adds an upgraded Entune system and more practical equipment.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of personality, capability, and market pricing, the 2015 is the right starting point. If your priority is saving money, the 2014 is the better value play; if you want a few newer conveniences and can spend more, the 2016 is worth a look.
