Is the 2015 Dodge Charger reliable?

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Dodge Charger?

At 48.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been modified, heavily optioned, or priced unusually low. Focus on overall condition, because the Charger’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been kept up.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SE uses 17-inch wheels, while the SXT gets 18-inch wheels and more features; higher trims move to 20-inch wheels, and the performance models add bigger brakes, suspension tuning, and SRT-only interior packages.
• Powertrain: The standard 3.6-liter V6 makes 292 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, uses an 8-speed automatic, and is the only engine available with AWD this year. The lineup also includes a 5.7-liter V8, a 6.4-liter V8, and a 6.2-liter supercharged V8.
• Safety package: The Charger includes front and side curtain airbags, a driver knee airbag, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, pre-tensioning and height-adjusting seatbelts, and rear child-seat anchors. Lane-departure warning, frontal-collision warning, and backup cameras are optional, and many active-safety features are spread across separate packages.
• Infotainment: UConnect is standard across the lineup, with an optional 8.4-inch touchscreen and a crisp 7-inch multifunction driver display. The system does not include wireless smartphone integration or OTA capability in the provided data.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 returns 19 mpg city/31 mpg highway with RWD or 18/27 with AWD, the 5.7-liter V8 is rated at 16/25 mpg, and the 6.4-liter V8 is rated at 15/25 mpg.

Which 2015 Dodge Charger trim should I buy?

The 2015 Dodge Charger is offered in 7 trim levels: SE, SXT, R/T, R/T Road & Track, R/T Scat Pack, SRT 392, Hellcat.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point, and it keeps things simple with 17-inch wheels and the standard V6. It makes sense if you want the Charger shape and space at the lowest starting point.
• SXT: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds more features than the SE while staying in the V6/AWD-friendly part of the lineup. If you want the everyday Charger experience without jumping into V8 pricing, this is the one to focus on.
• R/T: This is the first V8 step, pairing the 5.7-liter Hemi with the Charger’s muscle-car character. Choose it if you want stronger straight-line performance and are willing to give up the V6’s AWD availability.
• R/T Road & Track: This trim keeps the 5.7-liter V8 formula but adds a more performance-focused flavor. It suits you if you want the V8 experience with a little more edge than the standard R/T.
• R/T Scat Pack: This is the big-value performance choice if you want serious speed without going all the way to the top of the range. The 6.4-liter V8 and 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds make it the standout for buyers who care most about acceleration.
• SRT 392: This trim builds on the 6.4-liter V8 with bigger brakes, suspension tuning, and SRT-only interior packages. It is the pick if you want a more complete performance setup rather than just raw power.
• Hellcat: This is the extreme choice, with the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 and 707 hp. Buy it only if you specifically want the most outrageous Charger experience and are prepared for the running costs that come with it.

The safety package is spread across multiple option groups, so check carefully for the features you want before you buy.

If you find a listing below $12,416, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Dodge Charger's resale value?

The current average of $12,970 sits slightly below last year's $13,452.

That softer pricing suggests the Charger has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. The current market also shows a meaningful spread between the low and high end of the year-round range, so condition and trim will matter a lot when it comes time to resell. Strong owner satisfaction can help support demand, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.18/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Dodge Charger safe?

The Charger earns Good ratings from the IIHS in all crash tests.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The Charger includes front and side curtain airbags, a driver knee airbag, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, pre-tensioning and height-adjusting seatbelts, and rear child-seat anchors as standard equipment. Optional safety features include lane-departure warning, frontal-collision warning systems, and backup cameras. The catch is that many of the active-safety features are split across separate packages, so you need to check trim and option content carefully if safety tech matters to you.

Should I buy a 2015 Dodge Charger or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 22.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 48.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.59% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.18/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2015 refresh gives the Charger a sleeker front and brighter rear end, while keeping the lineup broad and performance-focused.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $10,219, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $12,970 average.
• It offers a bold shape with a more sophisticated driving character.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $15,625, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $12,970 average.
• It adds a more broadly satisfying family-sedan feel with stronger value appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of price, performance, and available inventory, the 2015 is the primary year to target. If your budget is tighter, the 2014 can save you money, while the 2016 makes sense if you want to spend more for a newer-feeling alternative.
