The Dodge Charger name has been around for decades. The original dates back to the 1960s muscle car era, then it was reborn in front-wheel-drive (FWD) form in the 1980s, and again in 2006 as a quintessentially American rear-wheel-drive (RWD) performance sedan. The Charger relied on that formula through the 2023 model year before an all-new model hit dealerships in 2024 in coupe form and with an electric powertrain. Fast-forward to 2026, and the Dodge Charger is offered with two or four doors and both electric and gasoline powertrains.

What’s New for the 2027 Dodge Charger
While rumors persist that Dodge will bring the Hemi V8 engine back to the Charger lineup, the automaker has yet to confirm it. Still, there are quite a few updates for the 2027 model, including an optional Satin Black painted hood, graphics packages that include Charger blade stripes or dual racing stripes in red, white, or black, and optional black or orange Brembo brake calipers. Inside, the 2027 Charger gains Petrol Blue leather seats with a Digital Slack perforation pattern that joins red and black, and optional Demonic Red seat belts.
Design
Few cars are now offered in both two- and four-door body styles, but the Charger is. In either guise, it looks long, lean, wide, and sporty, with a rakish roofline, blunt-faced front, rear fascias, and standard front and rear LED lighting. Dodge offers a wide array of exterior colors, including imaginatively named options such as Bludicrous, Destroyer Gray, Green Machine, Redeye, and Peel Out (orange). The 2027 Charger comes standard with 18-inch alloy wheels, while several 20-inch options are available. With two-tone exterior paint schemes and multiple graphics packages, it’s possible to customize the Charger’s look in many different ways.
Powertrain
The standard engine in the 2027 Dodge Charger Sixpack is a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with 420 horsepower and 468 pound-feet of torque, which is enough for a 0-60 mph time of 4.6 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 12.9 seconds. The Charger Scat Pack gets a high-output version of the inline-six engine with 550 hp and 531 lb-ft, resulting in a 0-60 mph time of 3.9 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 12.2 seconds. An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard, as is all-wheel drive (AWD). Buyers keen on roasting tires can make use of the Charger’s Drift/Donut mode and its ability to lock into RWD, along with the Scat Pack’s Line Lock, which locks the front brakes to aid burnouts. Launch Control is also offered to maximize straight-line acceleration. In addition to the two gasoline inline-six engines, Dodge offers the Charger Daytona Scat Pack with a 670-hp electric powertrain.

Interior
The Dodge Charger is a big car, and that equals a roomy interior. There’s plenty of space inside for adults in the front and rear seats, though the low-cut roofline can make it tough to get in and out of the back—even in four-door models. The Charger is actually a hatchback with folding rear seats, so there is more cargo capacity than buyers might expect. Sporty interior features include a leather-wrapped steering wheel with flattened top and bottom portions, a console-mounted starter button and shift lever, optional high-back bucket seats, and available Attitude Adjustment Lighting that illuminates the doors and instrument panel from below with interesting textures in one of 64 selectable lighting colors.
Technology
All 2027 Dodge Chargers feature a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the center of the dashboard running parent company Stellantis's latest Uconnect 5 software. Depending on the model, either a 10.3-inch or 16-inch digital gauge cluster sits in front of the driver. A head-up display is optional and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard. Dodge’s Performance Pages are accessible from the infotainment screen and record metrics such as acceleration times, maximum cornering numbers, and lap times. Dodge Connect, which requires a subscription or trial offer, allows smartphone app connectivity to view alerts, the car’s location, and more.
