Used 2014 Toyota Highlander for Sale nearHouston, TX

How much does the 2014 Toyota Highlander cost?

Prices have softened 1.50% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,271 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory for shoppers to compare.

Is the 2014 Toyota Highlander a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Toyota Highlander earns a 4.8/5 user rating and an 8.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its reliability, comfort, and value for money, and they also like the spacious interior and useful features. That lines up with the Highlander’s role as a family crossover that is meant to handle school runs, errands, and weekend trips without feeling dull. The tradeoffs are familiar ones for this class: some shoppers wish for better fuel economy and seat comfort, and the lack of modern conveniences like push-button start and a sunroof may matter if you want a more contemporary feel.

The market also shows 33.9% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you room to shop selectively.

Is the 2014 Toyota Highlander reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback points to reliability, dependability, and a trouble-free ownership experience, with many owners saying they feel good about the Highlander’s long-term value. The expert review also describes it as a practical, competent family vehicle that delivers a lot of content for the price, which supports the idea that it is built to be counted on. The cost-effectiveness notes reinforce that it offers a lot of equipment for the money, and the available maintenance-friendly ownership experience adds to its appeal.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the core vehicle and more about finding one that has been maintained well and not worn down by family use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Toyota Highlander?

At 56.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of body panels, alignment, and signs of prior repair. Because this is a family crossover, pay close attention to interior wear, seat condition, and how well the cabin features still work. If you are comparing multiple listings, focus on condition first and equipment second, since the best value often comes from the cleanest example rather than the cheapest one.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LE comes with standard seating for 8, a 6.1-inch touchscreen, a backup camera, and Bluetooth hands-free calling, while the LE Plus adds three-zone climate control with rear climate toggles, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, and SofTex leatherette seating. The XLE adds navigation, leather seating, and a detailed color digital display, and the Limited adds 19-inch wheels, a JBL audio system, and upgraded safety tech like blind-spot monitoring. The LE Plus is the best-value trim if you want a noticeable step up in comfort without jumping all the way to the top.
• Powertrain: The base LE uses a 185-hp 2.7-liter inline 4-cylinder, while a 3.5-liter V6 is optional on the LE and standard on the LE Plus and above. The V6 is the stronger choice for everyday drivability, and the automatic transmission is described as well matched to the engine.
• Safety package: The Highlander comes standard with a backup camera, tire pressure monitoring system, and a full array of advanced front and side impact airbags. Available driver-assistance tech includes a pre-collision system, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. The pre-collision system is tied to the highest safety recognition mentioned here, and the Limited trim adds blind-spot monitoring.
• Infotainment: The Highlander uses the Entune multimedia touchscreen interface, which includes apps such as Pandora, Yelp, and Bing. The screen is 6.1 inches on the base trim, and navigation is available on higher trims, though it is accessed through the app page rather than a dedicated dash button.
• Fuel efficiency: The I4 with front-wheel drive is rated at 20 mpg city and 25 mpg highway, while V6 front-wheel-drive trims are rated at 19 mpg city and 25 mpg highway. An AWD V6 test trim was listed at 18 mpg city and 24 mpg highway.

Which 2014 Toyota Highlander trim should I buy?

The 2014 Toyota Highlander is offered in 4 trim levels: LE, LE Plus, XLE, Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Highlander experience with seating for 8, a 6.1-inch touchscreen, a backup camera, and Bluetooth. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model, but it is also the trim where the feature set feels most basic.
• LE Plus: This is the best-value trim because it adds three-zone climate control with rear climate toggles, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, and SofTex leatherette seating. If you want the biggest comfort upgrade without paying for the top trim, this is the one to target.
• XLE: This trim adds navigation, leather seating, and a detailed color digital display in the instrument panel. It suits you if you want a more upscale cabin and are willing to pay more for convenience and presentation.
• Limited: This is the most fully equipped version, with 19-inch wheels, a JBL audio system, and upgraded safety tech like blind-spot monitoring. Choose it if you want the most features and the strongest safety equipment mix.

The safety package is strongest when the Highlander is selected with the available pre-collision system, which is tied to the model’s top safety recognition.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Toyota Highlander?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,271 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.50% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 56.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $14,944, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Toyota Highlander's resale value?

The current average of $15,384 sits slightly below last year's $15,618.

That kind of softening suggests the market has become a little more favorable for buyers, but it also means future sellers should expect pricing to stay competitive. If you own one, condition and history will matter a lot when it comes time to sell, especially because shoppers in this segment compare many similar listings. A clean, well-kept Highlander should still attract interest because it has the kind of practical reputation that used buyers tend to trust.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Toyota Highlander safe?

The 2014 Toyota Highlander earns a Top Safety Pick Plus award from IIHS when equipped with the available pre-collision system.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes a backup camera, tire pressure monitoring system, and a full array of advanced front and side impact airbags. Available driver-assistance features include a pre-collision system, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. The main caveat is that the strongest safety recognition depends on the available pre-collision system, so you should confirm that a used example has the right equipment.

Should I buy a 2014 Toyota Highlander or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.50% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 Highlander stands out for bringing more power, technology, and athletic styling to a family crossover while still staying practical for everyday use.

The bottom line: The 2014 Highlander is a smart pick if you want a family crossover with strong owner satisfaction, good safety, and a market that currently gives you some negotiating room. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby model years, but the 2014 remains appealing because it balances usefulness, comfort, and feature content well.

How does the 2014 Toyota Highlander compare to the 2014 Honda Pilot?

Our experts score the 2014 Toyota Highlander 8.7/10 and the 2014 Honda Pilot 6.8/10.

The Highlander is the more appealing choice if you want a newer-feeling family crossover with stronger expert praise, better fuel economy in the listed specs, and a much higher safety score. The Pilot is cheaper on the used market, but the Highlander brings more market demand, more listings to shop, and a stronger overall package for buyers who care about comfort, safety, and value retention.
