How much does the 2014 BMW 3 Series cost?

Prices have softened 3.06% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,438 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2014 BMW 3 Series a good car?

Yes — the 2014 BMW 3 Series earns a 4.79/5 user rating and a 7.33/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

Drivers consistently praise the fun driving experience, modern styling, and safety features. You also see recurring positives around comfort, fuel efficiency in the diesel model, heated seats, and a spacious interior.

That lines up with the overview: you’re looking at a sports sedan that still emphasizes deft handling, sublime steering, and a premium everyday driving feel. Even so, the market shows 31.8% good or great deals, so you have room to shop carefully rather than rush.

Is the 2014 BMW 3 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 4.79/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, with praise centered on the car’s long-term appeal, comfort, and overall confidence in daily use. The expert assessment also emphasizes BMW’s generous no-cost maintenance plan, which helps reduce early ownership burden.

That said, used buyers should still budget for age-related wear and verify service history carefully, especially because premium-car upkeep can become expensive once coverage ends.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 BMW 3 Series?

At 54.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on cars with higher mileage or visible cosmetic wear. Focus on maintenance records, signs of prior body repair, and whether the car’s equipment matches the trim and options you want.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The car is offered in Base, Luxury, Sport and M Sport trims. Sport and M Sport emphasize more aggressive body styling, larger wheels and stiffer suspensions, while the base setup is more restrained.
• Powertrain: You can choose from four engines, including 2.0-liter twin-turbo 4-cylinder options, a twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder, and a 2.0-liter twin-turbo diesel 4-cylinder. The diesel is the efficiency standout, while the 335i’s six-cylinder is the performance pick.
• Safety package: BMW Assist eCall is standard, along with adaptive brake lamps and automatic brake drying. Blind-spot detection, parking sensors and a backup camera are not standard.
• Infotainment: The big color screen, BMW Apps, Bluetooth streaming audio and a USB connector are highlights. The system also supports quick-loading menus, but some features remain buried in submenus.
• Fuel efficiency: The 328d promises an EPA-estimated 45-mpg-highway rating, while the tester returned 17 mpg in mostly city driving.

Which 2014 BMW 3 Series trim should I buy?

The 2014 BMW 3 Series is offered in 4 trim levels: Base, Luxury, Sport and M Sport.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the entry point if you want the 3 Series experience at the lowest starting point, but it leaves more of the desirable equipment to options.
• Luxury: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel without moving into the sportier appearance and suspension tuning.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the more aggressive styling and firmer setup that suit the car’s character.
• M Sport: Pick this if you want the most aggressive look and the strongest visual and chassis emphasis in the lineup.

BMW Assist eCall is standard, but features like blind-spot detection, parking sensors and a backup camera are not standard.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 BMW 3 Series?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,438 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.06% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 54.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $9,798, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 BMW 3 Series's resale value?

The current average of $10,025 sits slightly below last year's $10,341.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and service history rather than just the badge alone.

Because the model still has strong owner satisfaction and broad appeal among used luxury-sedan shoppers, well-kept examples should remain easier to move than neglected ones. Clean records and desirable equipment will matter more if you want to protect value later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.79/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 BMW 3 Series safe?

The 2014 BMW 3 Series didn’t fare too well in new small-overlap crash tests by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, and it still earns five-star ratings on government crash tests.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

BMW Assist eCall is standard, along with adaptive brake lamps and automatic brake drying. The car also includes the usual airbags and stability control.

A key caveat for used shoppers is that backup camera, blind-spot detection, parking sensors and even a basic alarm system are not standard, so you should verify which safety equipment is actually on the car you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2014 BMW 3 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 54.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.06% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.79/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The expert summary says the 3 Series still delivers the classic formula, but rivals have closed the gap.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $10,542, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $10,025 average.
• It becomes purely a sedan, sharpening its focus.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2014 is the smarter starting point because pricing has eased and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to pay more for the next model year’s sedan-only focus, the 2015 is the cleaner alternative; otherwise, the 2014 gives you the classic 3 Series feel with more room to negotiate.
