The updated engine is described as having improved reliability over the previous version, which is a meaningful plus for used shoppers. For long-term ownership, your biggest risk is buying a car with unresolved wear or transmission-related issues, so condition matters a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Audi A4?

At 55.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, especially if a listing looks unusually cheap. Put inspection priority on body condition, signs of prior repair, and how the car drives and shifts during a cold start. Because some reviewers mentioned CVT transmission issues during cold starts, a thorough test drive and pre-purchase inspection are especially important.

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find value if you compare listings closely.

What is the 2014 Audi A4's resale value?

The current average of $9,251 sits slightly below last year's $9,870.

That softer pricing suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help if you buy now and hold the car for a while. If demand stays steady, a lower entry price can make future resale easier because you are starting from a more favorable purchase point. The A4’s strong owner satisfaction also helps support buyer interest when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2014 Audi A4 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.27% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should start with the 2014 if you want the stronger value proposition and the improved engine update without paying more for a newer model year. If you are especially price-sensitive, nearby years may still be worth comparing, but the 2014 is the better primary target when you want a balanced mix of price, owner satisfaction, and everyday appeal.
