I bought a 99' 2 yrs ago with 86k on it, 3.8l. bcse i had just purchased it I was right on top of the oil but it dvlpd a tapping lifter sound on the left(drivr) bank, but i couldnt isolate it. Had it 2wks, oil on the stick and threw a rod thru the block at 1800-2000rpm, barely cruising. Never did figure it out precisely, but id do a valve adjustment if i were you. (Haynes, ch 2B sec 5. )
