Drove through water on road car instantly died

Asked by SammyG94 Feb 12, 2020 at 11:11 AM about the 2006 Pontiac G6 GT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Last night I drove my 06 g6 GT through some water
on the road; I wasn’t going very fast. It instantly
killed my car. We tried for 2 hrs to jump it, cars that
went by us, went through the same water & had no
issues.  I had it towed to the house this morning,
put a new battery in it & it still won’t start. Pulled
the dip stick, no water. Hopefully it’ll dry out & start.
What do y’all think it could be?

What matters is what got wet. If the water intruded into the electronics or distributor, it will take longer to dry it out then if the water just got onto your battery connections. .You can try to dry it out by opening the dist cap and see if the inside got wet. If it did, dry it out and see if it will start.

**UPDATE:** I took the air filter out, it’s soaked.. I’m gonna pull plugs & hope for the best, but I’m not holding my breathe! fml
