2006 Pontiac G6 2.4L - Cranks but won't start

The starter went out and I replaced it with a new
one. I reconnected Neg_Batt and got in to test.
Turned the key to RUN/CRANK. Starter engages
and the engines cranks, but it won't start!
Car ran fine for the last 2yrs and after replacing
starter, it simply won't start. Please help!

Thank you for your reply. I had heard from local shops that removing the battery cable causes the security system to engage, but I haven't been able to confirm that anywhere. I was hoping a car expert here might be able to confirm that.
