What would cause it to idle but shut down as soon as I try to give it gas???

Asked by steammaster May 22, 2011 at 09:09 AM about the 1994 Ford E-Series E-150 XL Econoline

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was driving down a highway and all of a sudden it just shut down on me.  I had it towed back home and put in a brand new fuel pump and brand new fuel filter.  It's getting plenty of fire.  I can get it to idle but once I put gas to it, it shuts down again. I got it to start up yesterday but once I gave it gas it shut down again and now I can't get it to start.  Spark plugs are fine.  It is getting spark.  What else could it be?
