Does Modifing a high milage motor increase the limited life the motor has left?

I have a 1996 escort with 33500kms on it. What can i do to add performance?

At the mileage, you best bet is to keep it tuned up and running efficient. The thing about adding HP to a old motor is your engine won't be able to handle the extra work it has to do, failing quicker than if it was new, so your essentially throwing money away. You best bet is to save that money for a new quicker future vehicle. Just my opinion.

At that mileage, if it's running well, don't touch it. Any modifications will just cause you lots of problems, unless you are planning to rebuild the whole engine.
