2007 toyota camry hybrid ac problems

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2007 Camry Hybrid. When i turn my ac system on the fan blows
but there is ONLY hot air coming out. I have an ECO Heat/AC button under
the steering wheel, but the light does not come on when you press that
button. The AC button lights up on the temperature control panel on the
center dash. What could be the issue? I am trying to avoid paying $200 for
a diagnostic if its just a DIY minor fix.

Check if the pulley on the compressor turns or not, then use a ac gauge to check the level of the freon. I would recommend you use a common and cheaper brand AC PRO sold in all auto parts stores. Advance auto part has it for $29 after mail in rebate.

@apostle77, i put Freon in it. It is full but still doesn't blow out cold. I will check the pulley on the compressor though. Do you know if the Eco Heat/Air button controls anything besides the efficiency of gas usage when Heat/Ac is on?

The compressor needed to be replaced. Once replaced, the air is cold and the Eco Heat/Ac button also works. My mechanical warranty covered the repairs and diagnostic. Luckily I purchased that, otherwise I'd be $2500 in debt or without air, lol.

I had this same problem in my car, air conditioner didn't work well, then I filled it with an AC Pro recharge, and then no matter what, it blew out hot air, hotter than outside. Eco button wouldn't work either. The way I figured out what was wrong was whenever it was cold outside, it would blow out colder air than what was outside (meaning it worked). So what was wrong was that I JUST BARELY overcharged my A.C.. Easy fix was to just to take a small screwdriver to stick into the Low port to let some of the frion/pressure out. Took barely any out, and now my AC is working like a charm with 102 degrees f out right now. Came here just to share my solution.
