2020 Silverado rough idle low oil pressure and odd smell.
Hi guys I just bought my 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 Texas
edition brand new from the dealer it has 5.3 and it has just
under 1000 miles and i have had it for less than 20 days.
Today all of a sudden it started stalling and had very rough
idle the oil pressure started to go down and a very weird
smell started to come from the truck. It has been towed to
the dealer already and i am awaiting diag. I just wanted
some input as to what i should do next. I am seriously let
down by the situation and was wondering if i should even
take the truck back knowing that I already have problems at
less thand 1k miles. Can u guys provide some input?
You wait for the dealer make the repair. It's all under warranty. If you don't take the truck back, what are you going to drive? The truck is in your name, and the dealer will only buy it back if the vehicle meets the lemon law. Depending on what state you are in, that includes three time back to the dealership for the same issue that the dealer can't resolve. I personally think the issue will get resolved and you have nothing to worry about.
Hey Ckasper I have a 2020 Silverado also and recently mine has begun to lower the oil pressure when on idle idk if it’s normal I’m about to hit 3k miles the other day I was on idle and the truck shook a bit then shit down. It turn on right away but whenever in idle the truck sometimes starts to lag a bit and I have to rev up the engine a bit to get it back on its feet. Sounds a bit similar to you, have they given you a response yet?
Yes the dealer repaired it they said that I was some wiring that was being melted by my exhaust manifold and was causing a short. They claimed that wiring sometimes gets loose during transport. At least its been fixed and I have had no problems since.
