Floor board carpet under both front seats have a slits in the carpet

I purchased a 2020 Chevy Equinox last week.
today while getting groceries from the floor in
the back seat I noticed a slit in the carpet.
There is a cut under boath of my front seats
toward the back. Does anybody know if this
this is normal?

Turn on the AC to floor and the fan to high. See if there is air coming from the slits. It may be hiding a floor duct for the rear seats. My 2015 2500 HD has plastic ducts there.
