When I turn the ignition off, all of the lights on the dashboard light up. I have to disconnect the battery.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

At first, I could turn the key off and the motor would stay running.  then I could put the key back in and turn it off.  As long as I would make sure the key was turned all of the way off everything was fine.   Now when I turn the key to the off position, all of the lights on the dash are lit.   Could this be a bad ignition switch?

yup , sounds like a bad switch , the lock turns on a rack that does the switching , I don;t think on yours the key is the switch , know what I mean ?

Yes, it is the electrical connector that is the actual switch, not the ignition lock. Same thing happened to me, the part is about $40 and relatively easy for a novice to replace.
