Standard Features?

Asked by metagore May 28, 2008 at 01:10 PM about the 2005 Nissan Xterra Off-Road 4WD

Question type: General

Are the following features standard for the Off-Road trim level in 2005?

Locking Rear Differential
Hill Descent/Ascent
Bilstein shocks
Fog Lamps

I just purchased one through CarMax and it doesn't have any of the above and I'm just wondering if I should give it back and wait for a model that does have 'everything'.

Well, I did a little more digging myself and I have yet to find anything official from Nissan that lists the standard features for the 2005 Off Road trim level. All of the reviews I had read said that it comes with all of the above features standard. This is entirely incorrect. The Off Road trim level is actually just that... 'trim'. I was even able to find a few Off Road models out there that were 2WD. That's not very 'off road' now is it? :) So I guess I learned my lesson on that one. Even if something is 'standard' with a specific trim level, verify that the feature is actually there. Good thing I bought this from CarMax, I'm taking them up on their 5 day return policy. I'll just save up a little more and get a new one, with the exact configuration I want. :)

yes those are the standard features for off road xterras, but in 2005 an off road 2WD model was available and it did not have the locker but all 4WDs do.

Sounds like carmax shafted you. They sometimes do that. They will just add the off-road badge because not many really know what the difference is. I would try to take it back or get a better deal on it.
