What is the exact name for this part?

Asked by Guru9DDGQM Oct 27, 2020 at 02:37 AM about the 2019 Dodge Charger SXT AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I’m not sure what this part is called, the dealership
is recommending me to buy the whole door
although it’s over 1,500 but it’s just the outer part
that’s damaged nothing mechanical. I would order
this online but I don’t know the exact name for it
and I tried googling it but maybe I’m doing
something wrong. I also went by some shops but
they said my car is a newer model and I wouldn’t
be able to find it. I don’t know how to fix it
honestly.. Help

It sounds like you want to purchase a new door skin. Like the auto body shop said, your car is too new. You can try purchasing it through your Dodge dealer parts department, if they even sell it. The old skin will have to be removed, the new skin installed and welded on and painted. The cost will exceed the cost of a used door. Finding a used door at an auto recycler will be your cheapest bet, and cheaper still if you find it in the same paint color. I'm sure your auto body shop can help locate one, they have salvage yards they work with on a daily basis.

Dealers do not do body work so get an opinion directly from a body shop. I would buy a new door for your nearly new car. Insurance should be paying for it so don't be cheap.
