Have a 1999 Eclipse and havent had any issues
with it until I jumped someone off.. Was driving
down the interstate and the car just shut off. Got it
home and noticed it had blown my main motuer
fuse in my fuse box. So i replaced it an got it
running only for me to drive less than a mile and
have it do the same thing. Obviously i dont know
much about vehicles and could really use some
Give your hot wires a good look and make sure nothing is broke or loose and grounding itself causing the fuses to blow
Shorts around the starter solenoid are a good suspect.
Thank you guys. Excuse my car illiteracy but how would I check these possible problems...
Trace the wires out and visually inspect them for frays, bad connections, shorts, etc. If you don't see anything obvious it will need to be diagnosed by a professional. If you have any friends who are handy and have a voltage/ohm meter, you can probe a little further than just visually, if you're trying to save a buck. Voltage drop test across the starter and on the battery wiring harness may be good places to start.
