thermostat didnt open car overheated, now just turns over says fuel lockout
They're unrelated. Fuel lockout is a safety device in the trunk - an inertia switch - that shuts the fuel off on impact. If you have the electric automatic seat belts, they won't work either. A red button in the trunk - usually on the driver's side - owner's manual knows best. I have a '93 Escort with 580,000 miles - 2nd engine, 3rd automatic trans. Easy to rebuild and the parts are plentiful.
