2000 Mercury Cougar with no power

I have a 2000 Mercury Cougar V6. I have placed a
new battery in it and it is still having no power. It
doesn't even make any noise at all. I have no lights
or anything at all. I checked my fuses too and
those look fine. Any clues as to what it could be?

A short to ground if there is nothing when you turn the key. Could be just about anywhere. You can check the battery cables first for corrosion or cracking, but most probably you will need to have it towed to your mechanic to diagnose where the short is occurring in the wiring of the car.

Now just wondering where the short could be. We are short on mechanics where I live. What tool do I need to find it?
