I have a 01 mountaineer 5.0 v8 and the 4x4 doesn't work..is there a switch on the dash or is it AWD on its own..it acts like its locked in 2wd. .there is a hole in the dash for a switch but its gone..how do I fix it

Are you sure of what model you have? You may want to put the car up on a rack to have it inspected. Look for a front differential and a transfer case with a drive shaft going to the front.
